With changing trends since Covid, travel costs can seem out of reach for many, even with the number of travelers growing each year. Today we talk about the five things we consider to avoid overpaying for travel in 2026.

- Flights are getting more (and less) expensive
- It pays to be late or early. The middle is going to get you. Flight alerts are more important now than ever
- The credit card landscape is changing fast
- Lots of deevaluations, perks are harder to get, things are changing all the time. Earn and burn is the name of the game and we’ll play it as long as we can.
- Fees are everywhere
- Reading fine print is super important. If it's super cheap, it's probably too good to be true. Sometimes hidden fees end up costing more than the nicer option. Traveling light gets you further and on more trips.
- Popular places are crowded
- Planning ahead is super important. But what's even more important? Finding trips off the beaten path. Get off of Instagram and follow the deals for less expensive, less crowded options.
- AI is sending people to a all the same places
- Do your own research. If you rely on AI you’re going to end up in the same places as everyone else- meaning (typically) lackluster options at expensive prices.
