 Marvel’s Iron Man #219 hit shelves in June 1987, alongside pop culture milestones like Beverly Hills Cop II and the birth of footballer Lionel Messi. In this issue, Tony Stark attempts to buy Accutech, but his plans are interrupted by the villainous "Ghost," who can phase through walls and infiltrate computers. The Ghost vows to destroy Accutech and kill Stark, setting up a thrilling chase. This issue introduces the Ghost, who would later become a notable anti-hero in the Marvel universe.The comic was co-written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton, with Michelinie known for introducing Tony Stark’s alcoholism and creating characters like War Machine and Venom. Bob Layton’s detailed art and innovative paneling elevate the story. Also part of the creative team were letterer Janice Chiang, colorist Bob Sharen, and editor Mark Gruenwald.Other notable moments include Tony using wireless headphones and a fitness tracker decades before their invention in our reality.
