Have you lost desire for your partner but still love them deeply? There is nothing wrong with you. This is completely common.

I'm Lauren Wolff, Registered Psychotherapist and sex therapist specializing in women's desire and intimacy in long-term relationships.

After working with hundreds of women who thought their desire was gone forever, I have seen the same patterns again and again. And I know what actually brings it back.

In this Podcast, I share honest, shame-free guidance on:

→ Why desire disappears in loving marriages
→ The difference between responsive and spontaneous desire
→ How to rebuild intimacy without forcing anything
→ What your body is actually telling you about your relationship
→ The real reasons "date nights and lingerie" advice fails

New episodes every week for women who want to understand their desire, reconnect with their partners, and stop feeling like something is wrong with them.

This is not about quick fixes. This is about understanding what is really happening and creating conditions where desire can return naturally.

In almost every long-term relationship, one partner wants sex more than the other. The higher-desire partner feels rejected, lonely, and confused. The lower-desire partner feels pressured, guilty, and inadequate. And most couples handle this dynamic in ways that make it significantly worse. This is not a problem that belongs to one partner. It's a dynamic that requires both people to change.

In this episode, I'm breaking down why desire difference is normal, why the standard approaches backfire, and what both partners need to do differently to navigate it without it destroying the relationship.

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: Is it normal for one partner to want sex more than the other?
A: Yes, completely. Desire naturally fluctuates with stress, life stage, health, and relationship quality, matched desire at all times is a fantasy, not a realistic expectation for any long-term relationship.

Q: Why does my partner's reaction to my low desire seem to make things worse?
A: Sighing, withdrawing, or bringing up how long it's been, even subtly, registers as pressure, even when that's not the intent. Pressure and pursuit push desire further away rather than inviting it back.

Q: My partner and I have very different sex drives. How do we actually fix this?
A: It's not about one partner changing. It requires both. The higher-desire partner removes pressure and builds connection without sexual expectation; the lower-desire partner shares specifically what would help rather than just reporting a "no." Together, you treat it as a shared dynamic, not one person's problem to solve.

You're in therapy. You've done the work. You understand your patterns, you communicate better. But your sexual desire? Still gone. Still inconsistent. You haven't failed therapy, and therapy hasn't failed you. Desire is a specific domain, and sometimes general therapy, as valuable as it is, doesn't go where desire actually lives.

In this episode, I'm being honest about what general therapy does and doesn't address when it comes to desire, and what kind of support actually moves the needle on this specific issue.

4:11 What Sex Therapy Specifically Addresses
    5:16 Other Missing Pieces

    7:53 What To Do Tonight

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: I've been in therapy for years, so why hasn't my desire come back?
A: Most therapists aren't trained in sex therapy specifically. They may never directly ask about your sexual and intimate life, or know how to assess the specific blockers suppressing desire. General therapy builds an important foundation, but desire often needs additional, specialized attention.

Q: What does sex therapy address that general therapy doesn't?
A: Sex therapy specifically addresses the relational and emotional conditions around desire, psychoeducation about how female desire works, communication skills for intimate conversations, and how nervous system state affects desire, and so much more. It's a much different focus than general emotional health work.

Q: Do I need more than just a therapist to rebuild my desire?
A: Often, yes. A full support team can include a therapist who addresses desire directly, a medical provider for hormonal or physical factors, and a couples or sex therapist to work with both partners on relational conditions, since desire doesn't return in isolation.

  • What Porn Is Actually Teaching Your Partner About Your Desire
    2026/10/01

Pornography is teaching your partner things about your desire that aren't true. Not because it's forbidden or evil, but because what it depicts about female arousal, pleasure, and desire is almost entirely scripted for a male gaze, and has very little to do with what most women actually experience. When those expectations enter your bedroom, they affect your intimacy, often significantly.

In this episode, I'm breaking down what the porn script actually teaches about desire, how it creates a gap between expectation and reality in real relationships, and how to have an honest conversation about what desire actually looks like for you.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 What Porn Is Actually Teaching Your Partner About Your Desire
1:26 What the Porn Script Teaches
2:43 How the Script Enters the Bedroom
4:17 What Accurate Female Desire Actually Looks Like
5:29 How to Have This Conversation
    7:06 What Replaces the Script
    8:03 What To Do Tonight

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: Does porn create unrealistic expectations about female desire?
A: Yes. Porn depicts desire as spontaneous, visually triggered, and always ready, but for most women, especially in long-term relationships, desire is responsive and requires emotional connection, safety, and time. When partners internalize the porn script as normal, it creates confusion and a sense of inadequacy on both sides.

Q: Why do I feel like something's wrong with me because my arousal doesn't look the way it's "supposed to"?
A: Because the script you're being measured against was never accurate to begin with. Extended warm-up, individual variation in what feels good, and desire that doesn't look outwardly enthusiastic are all normal.

Q: How do I talk to my partner about this without it being awkward?
A: Share specific, accurate information about how your desire actually works rather than comparing yourself to a script, and encourage your partner to replace assumptions with direct questions like "what do you actually want right now?"
