  • Faith in the Forecast: The Water Cycle and God’s Design
    2025/10/06

In this inspiring episode of The Big Bethel A.M.E. Church Intergenerational Sunday School Podcast, we explore the intersection of meteorology and biblical truth with special guest Fox 5 Meteorologist Jonathan Stacey.

Jonathan helps us see how the hydrological (water) cycle — evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and collection — is not only a marvel of atmospheric science but also a mirror of God’s divine order revealed in Scripture. From Ecclesiastes 1:7 to Job 36:27–28, the Bible described the water cycle long before modern science named it.

Jonathan shares a powerful message: just as the waters of the earth move through their cycles in perfect balance, our experiences in life also move through seasons that balance one another — each working together for our good. Through storms and sunshine alike, God is ever-present, bringing renewal, restoration, and purpose.

Join Khamisi Walters and the Big Bethel A.M.E. Church School team for this journey of discovery where faith meets science, and where every drop of rain becomes a reminder that all things work together for good.

  • From 'Why Me?' to 'Who Better Than Me?': The Intersection of Faith with Orthotics and Prosthetics
    2025/09/21

This week on the Big Bethel Intergenerational Sunday School Podcast, we welcome Professor Amandi Jendayi Rhett, a prosthetist, orthotist, author, and researcher, who shows us how faith and science meet in the remarkable phenomenon of phantom limb sensations. Together, we explore how resilience transforms “Why me?” into “Who better than me?” and how Jesus’ words—“Your faith has made you whole” (Luke 17:19)—still bring healing and hope today.

  • What Goes In vs. What Comes Out: Faith, Science, and Matthew 15:11
    2025/09/14

In this episode of the Big Bethel A.M.E. Church Intergenerational Sunday School Podcast, we explore the wisdom of God’s Word through the lens of both faith and science. Our featured guest, Dr. Tracey Ragsdale — a physician and woman of faith — helps us unpack the health practices found in Leviticus and how they reveal God’s care for His people: rest for mothers, the timing of circumcision on the eighth day, and dietary laws that safeguarded communities.

But the lesson doesn’t end there. We turn to the words of Jesus in Matthew 15:11: “It’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth.” Together, we reflect on how true holiness is not measured by what we consume, but by the words we speak and the love we show.

  • The Intersection of Faith and History: Why Remembering Matters
    2025/09/07

In this episode of the Big Bethel A.M.E. Church Intergenerational Sunday School Podcast, we welcome Brother L. Samuel Stephens II — historian, educator, and steward at Big Bethel. Together we explore the Out of Africa theory, one of the leading models for human origins, and reflect on how it intersects with the biblical story of beginnings.

Brother Sam reminds us that our history is rich — and while it may sometimes be withheld or diminished in classrooms and institutions, the church has always been a keeper of truth. We’ll discuss why remembering our history is essential to preserving our identity, and how both faith and history call us to resist forgetting.

Join us as we lean into the big questions of origins, memory, and faith — and discover why the mystery of God is part of the majesty of God.

If you’re in Atlanta, we invite you to join us in person every Sunday at 9 a.m. at Big Bethel A.M.E. Church, where after each podcast recording, we continue with great discussions you won’t want to miss.

  • Epidemiological Origins and the Bible: Trusting God’s Wisdom
    2025/08/31

This Sunday, our Intergenerational Sunday School explores the theme “Trusting God’s Wisdom.” Scripture records commandments that seemed mysterious to the Israelites thousands of years ago — yet modern science has revealed their deeper purpose as the very foundations of disease control and prevention.

Our guest, Dr. Christopher Parker, an experienced public health leader, joins us in his personal capacity to reflect on how biblical wisdom anticipated practices like running water sanitation, quarantine, and waste management. Together, we’ll discover how these ancient commands remind us that God’s guidance is never arbitrary, but always life-giving — even when we don’t fully understand it at first.

Join the conversation as we consider how faith calls us to trust God’s wisdom, apply His instructions, and find resilience in both body and spirit.

  • Physiological and Social Coherence: The Science of Faith and Justice
    2025/08/24

This week at Big Bethel A.M.E., our Intergenerational Church School explores coherence — both physiological and social — as a bridge between science, Scripture, and justice.

Science shows that when we live in love, our bodies enter physiological coherence: heart rhythms steady, stress falls, and the body flourishes. Scripture calls this the spirit of God within us — eternal and life-giving.

But coherence is not only internal. It is also external — a call to live in harmony with our neighbors through justice, mercy, and community. Jesus embodied this external coherence by healing the sick, feeding the hungry, welcoming the outcast, and confronting injustice.

On this Social Justice Sunday, we are joined by Emery Wright, Executive Director of Project South, who reflects on how love becomes justice in public, and how coherence of body and spirit leads to coherence in society.

Together, we discover that true faith is never dry-as-dust, but alive — balancing the inner life with the outer work of justice.

  • From Physics to Faith — Spacetime and the Book of Life
    2025/08/17

In this episode of Big Bethel AME Church’s Intergenerational Sunday School Podcast, we step into the conversation “From Physics to Faith” — exploring how the scientific concept of spacetime parallels the biblical truth of the Book of Life. Together, we reflect on how the laws of the universe point us toward God’s eternal promises, and how Scripture gives meaning beyond what physics can measure.

Guided by Dr. Jeffrey Streator, we also consider the “3 P’s” that remind us of God’s presence in every moment: purpose for our past, power for the present, and promise for our future.

Join us as we continue bridging science, faith, and everyday life — and if you’re ever in Atlanta on a Sunday morning, we’d love to welcome you in person at Big Bethel AME Church at 9 a.m.
