このコンテンツについて
Ever post something on Instagram (or celebrated am accomplishment), and immediately feel shame for sharing it? Like you shouldn't have "thrown it in people's faces"?
That's exactly what happened to my client Liz after posting about a Taylor Swift concert (and my client Kristi who bought a boat but never included it when talking about her summer plans for fear of 'bragging') — and it's what Day 3 is all about.
Where we've been in the Blueprint:
- Day 1: Became aware of what's happening
- Day 2: Identified the meaning, judgments, and expectations you're attaching to it
Today? We're questioning if any of that is actually true.
In this 5-minute episode:
- The one main question that changes everything: "Is that true?"
- How to play devil's advocate with the beliefs running on autopilot in your mind
- Liz's story: Posted about Taylor Swift, felt immediate guilt ("I should be settling down, not going to concerts alone"), worried friends were judging her for spending money on "frivolous" things
The questions she asked herself:
- Is it true I'm supposed to settle down RIGHT NOW?
- Is it true I can't go to concerts AND settle down?
- Is it true spending on an epic once-in-a-lifetime concert is frivolous?
- Is it true all my friends were jealous and none of them supported me?
What she realized: Her friends were mostly moms or partnered — they couldn't just get up and go like she could. So they were either jealous OR supportive (probably the latter). Concerts ARE worth it to her. She worked hard to have the freedom to take some time off of work to go to the concert. And SHE was the one holding the "settle down" expectation—not anyone else.
Today's journaling: Question the validity of the meanings, judgments, and expectations you identified yesterday. It might take a minute to sit in stillness before anything comes. That's okay. Embrace it.
No right or wrong answers here. We're just questioning the beliefs that have been running the show.
