Sermon Title: The Purpose of God’s Law
Bible Passage: Romans 7:7–13
Preacher: Robin Vonk
Date: 15th June 2025, 9:30 am
If God’s law is good, why does it seem to lead to guilt, failure, and even death? In Romans 7:7–13, Paul answers this by showing us the true purpose of God’s law—not to save us, but to reveal our desperate need for salvation. This Sunday morning, Robin Vonk will help us explore how God’s law exposes the depth of our sin and points us to the hope found only in Jesus Christ.
The law acts like a mirror—it shows us our sin, but it cannot clean us. It exposes how deeply rooted sin is in the human heart. The more clearly we see God’s standards, the more clearly we see how far we fall short. But that’s not the end of the story.
The gospel declares that what the law could never do—save us from sin—God has done through Jesus. Christ perfectly fulfilled the law’s demands and took upon Himself the judgment we deserve. By His death and resurrection, Jesus rescues us from condemnation and brings us into new life by grace.
Join us as we see how God’s law, while good, was never meant to be our saviour—but to drive us to the One who is. Come and be reminded that while the law shows us our need, Christ meets that need fully and forever.
