The Swongos (Thomas Mangelsen - guitar, Lisa Mangelsen - bass, Brian Liggett - drums) are a surf band from NW Wisconsin (what?!) with a twist. Make that many twists. The foundation of their music is surf, but from there they add layers of exotica, spy, psychedelic rock, metal, alternative, and even jazz (thanks to vibes player Thomas Mattioli) for sonic creations that can be described best by just looking at their album cover art. The colors, textures, and shades that inhabit their original instrumentals is unique and will have you becoming the titular Curious Tourist from their first release. Get ready for something refreshingly different—it's The Swongos!

Aubrey Marie is a young lady with a very bright future ahead of her in music and life. In the latter half of 2024, she dropped her debut album, Where's My Wizard Of Oz, at the age of 13 and almost instantly was getting recognised for her composing and vocals. Want proof? How about being a finalist in two categories for the 2025 WAMI Awards as well as garnering airplay across the state. Coming from a musical family (her parents are Nick and Nicole Pari of Milwaukee's The NIX) doesn't hurt, but Aubrey is a girl driven to achieve whatever she does at a high level. In a day and age when a lot of young people are content to just settle, Aubrey is out to create music and live a life that is vibrant, meaningful, and inspiring. Meet The Seavers is perhaps the most unique musical act in NE Wisconsin and the bio on their website states They don't fit in and they like it that way. Their music has been dubbed "New Avant Garde Swing" and when you give it a listen you understand almost immediately why. However, that description doesn't mean it isn't accessible to the general listening public. Jace K. and Dorothy G. Seavers have crafted an act that's equal parts jazz, swing, Vaudeville, rockabilly, spacey, and humor. Steve March-Tormé and Michael Murphy return to Into The Music to introduce you to the title character of their new album, Dalton Diamond. This is an album just over four decades in the making having originated in a West Los Angeles bedroom as the idea of Steve along with his friend, Craig Copeland. In the mid 1980s, nine of the album's were written by Steve and Craig and two additional songs that round out the narrative were written forty years later by Steve and Michael. The feel of the album harkens back to the 1970s southern California country rock of the Eagles, J.D. Souther, Jackson Browne, and The Flying Burrito Brothers to name a handful of Dalton's influences. This episode serves as a preview of the album and Steve and Michael throw in a live performance for good measure. Enjoy!

There's no shortage of talent when it comes to jazz in NE Wisconsin and The Chalk Down Trio is proof of that. Guitarist Alec Riegsecker, bassist Andrew Wilson, and drummer Ryan Thomas are three very talented young men that have jelled together to make music that bridges the jazz and funk realms. What makes them the musicians they are is their willingness to be open to what older, more seasoned jazzers in the area have to say and learn from them. It doesn't hurt that they also pick up bits and pieces from the other bands they play in and let that inform The Chalk Down Trio's style. This is one jazz combo you'll want to pay attention to.

In 2024 violinist/vocalist Kate Stenson and pianist/vocalist Jennifer Harlee put together a band that has a combined 190 years experience between the five members and it is something special. Wine On Fridays is an all female band and plays a wide variety of music styles and, as is evidenced by their debut album, all of it meshes together for a great listening experience. Over the years, Kate and Jennifer have recorded and performed together and as solo artists, but Wine On Fridays (or WOF) takes their original songs to the next level.
