  • When Music Needs a Flying Car but Simple Still Sings
    2025/07/03

Why are we dangling cars mid-air at concerts?

Today on InSight Out, Devin Almonte explores our growing need for spectacle—and why we’ve lost the art of simply enjoying music, beauty, and life as it is. From Beyoncé’s stage mishap to a $1,000 concert ticket to a road trip wasp named Pickles, Devin contrasts a culture chasing the “next big thing” with a faith that reminds us to slow down and savor what matters.

    In this episode, we’ll discuss:

    • Beyoncé’s flying convertible and near accident
    • The wild inflation of concert ticket prices
    • Why fireworks, phones, and flying drones might be ruining July 4th
    • The Bible’s wisdom about craving more and finding less
    • How a wasp named Pickles became a family memory that outshined the Smoky Mountains

Join Devin for this personal and cultural reflection on joy, simplicity, and living fully in the small, shared moments of life.

    📖 Scripture References:

    • Ecclesiastes 1:8 – “The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.”
    • Matthew 6:19-21 – “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth…”

  • Anchor Points: The Gospel According to Shifu
    2025/06/30

Have you ever had a story so good, you could hardly wait to tell someone—only to realize no one was answering their phone?

In this Anchor Point episode, Devin Almonte shares a story about her aunt and uncle’s incredibly smart dog, Shifu. Whenever a sports announcer said “score” or “see you later,” Shifu would bolt off the couch and deliver the news to Devin’s aunt with uncontainable joy—then race back to her spot to keep watching the game.

It’s funny. It’s heartwarming. But most of all, it’s a reminder of what sharing our faith should feel like—so good, so important, that we can’t keep it to ourselves.

May we all be a little more like Shifu—joyfully running to tell the Good News.

    📖 Scripture Reflection: Romans 10:17

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

  • Anchor Points: Pity Party Days
    2025/06/27

We’ve all been there—those days where everything feels a little heavier, a little harder, and you’re hosting a full-blown pity party (solo invite only). In this Anchor Point, I’m sharing what those days look like for me, how I recognize them, and how I’ve learned not to stuff down the feelings but to bring them—messy and all—to God.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is be honest about where we are. Because He’s not afraid of your frustration, your tears, or even your sarcasm.

So if you’ve been stuck in a “sorry-for-myself” loop lately, come sit with me for a few minutes. You’re not alone—and you’re not broken. Let’s talk about what it means to feel, to heal, and to reset with truth.

    📖 Scripture Reflection: Psalm 62:8

“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”

  • When Everyone Wants the Credit but Forgets the Creator
    2025/06/26

What happens when a monkey snaps a selfie—and it ends up in court?

Today on InSight Out, Devin Almonte goes back in time to one of the strangest copyright battles in recent memory: the viral case of Naruto the monkey, who took a photo that sparked lawsuits, media frenzy, and a serious debate over ownership. But this isn’t just about animal rights or legal loopholes—it’s about a deeper human question: Who gets credit for what we create?

    In this episode, we’ll explore:

    • The wild true story of Naruto, David Slater, and a monkey with a gift for selfies
    • Why this case became a legal and cultural circus
    • What this tells us about AI-generated content, authorship, and creativity
    • The emotional sting of stolen credit—and how it points us to something eternal
    • Why every good idea ultimately belongs to the Creator

This story may start in the jungle, but it ends in your heart—with a reminder that all creativity, credit, and creation belong to the One who made us.

    📖 Scripture References:

    • Psalm 24:1 – “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it…”
    • John 3:27 – “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven.”

  • Anchor Points: The Strength of Small Faith
    2025/06/24

Have you ever felt like your life was hanging by a thread—so fragile that one more challenge might break you?

In this episode of InSight Out, Devin Almonte shares a reflection for anyone who’s ever felt overwhelmed by life’s circumstances. From personal experiences to Jesus’ words about mustard seed faith, Devin explores the truth that it’s not about the strength of our grip—it’s about the strength of the One holding us.

Even when faith feels small, God’s hand is steady.

    📖 Scripture Reflection: Matthew 17:20–21

20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

  • Anchor Points: Is Anything Safe to Eat Anymore? Finding Hope in a Toxic World
    2025/06/23

Is there anything on this planet that’s safe to consume anymore? Oils are wrong, eggs are right—then wrong again. Plastic is in our food, lotions are toxic, and don’t even get started on the coffee cups.

In this episode, Devin Almonte walks through the comical yet overwhelming noise surrounding health, safety, and consumption—and how it all points to the brokenness of the world. But there’s good news: this isn’t our final home. There is hope, even in the midst of toxicity.

    📖 Scripture Reflection: Romans 8:22–23

"We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies."

  • Anchor Points: The Friends Who Love You Enough to Be Honest
    2025/06/20

Have you ever had a friend tell you something you didn’t want to hear—but needed to?

It’s uncomfortable. It can be awkward. But sometimes, it’s the most loving thing they could do.

That’s the heart of today’s conversation.

Devin Almonte shares a raw moment from her own story of addiction—and how real friends showed up not to enable her, but to challenge her. It was risky. It was bold. But it was love. In a world that prizes affirmation, we’re called to something deeper: truth spoken in love. Because Jesus didn’t come to make us feel better—He came to set us free.

🎧 In today’s Anchor Point, Devin explores

Why real friendship is rooted in love, not comfort

What it looks like to speak truth with courage and care

How to be the kind of friend who helps others grow, not stay stuck

    📖 Scripture (NIV):

John 15:13 – “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
