Author and musician Jeremy Wagner comes onto the podcast to talk to Scotty about his years as guitarist and lyricist for the seminal death-metal band Broken Hope (also known as the band that broke Scotty's body back in '97), as well as his career as a horror writer with the popular novels "The Armageddon Chord," "Rabid Heart," and the upcoming "Wretch" (look for it in October from Dead Sky Publishing).

Jeremy talks about influences as disparate as Peter Benchley's original "Jaws" (1974) and the songwriting of Slayer's Jeff Hanneman, and how they--along with his interest in history, mythology, and the brutality of death metal--helped form his unique sensibility. He and Scotty discuss the development of his own conversational writing style, the importance of specific teachers and mentors throughout his career, and more.

They discuss growing up as a pair of lonely horror geeks in the Albuquerque region, traveling to fan fests throughout the greater Southwest, and how doing so inspired them to start their own event here at home. They describe the challenges of organizing a festival--from the logistics of raising money, contacting guests, finding venues, and even figuring out parking for attendees--to the fun stuff of coming up with unique features and helping to build a dedicated and thriving community of "505" horror fans.
