در حاشیه‌ی نمایشگاه انفرادی چشمگیر او در پاریس، هنرمند نقاش اکسل پهلوی در یک گفت‌وگوی ویژه با کسری علیها و بهنود معصومی، از روش کار، درونمایه‌های آثارش، و ریشه‌های فکری‌اش سخن گفت.

او در این گفت‌وگوی صمیمی برای نخستین بار به نسبت خانوادگی‌اش با خاندان سلطنتی ایران اشاره کرد و از پیوندهای ناپیدا اما عمیق میان میراث فرهنگی، هویت و دگرجایی گفت.

پهلوی، نقاشی را نه ابزاری برای خوشایند بودن، بلکه میدانی برای مواجهه با تکه‌تکه شدن درون، خاطره، و میل به یگانگی می‌داند. آثارش – با تمامی تضادها و تنوع سبک‌ها – همچون آینه‌ای است از آشفتگی زیبایی‌شناختی و اشتیاقی برای معنا.
