  • How to Create a Family Wellness Rhythm That Honors Your Culture and Real Life
    2026/05/12

What if getting your family healthier did not mean cooking separate meals, forcing habits nobody wants, or giving up the foods and traditions that make your culture feel like home? So many women are carrying a lot right now. You are thinking about your family’s health, your own blood pressure, your stress, your energy, and at the same time, the cost of living keeps rising.

When you are the one trying to hold everything together, wellness can start to feel like one more burden. Creating better health at home does not have to begin with restriction. It can begin with rhythm. Simple, realistic, culturally rooted habits that help your family feel better, without making life harder.

Today, we are talking about how to create a family wellness rhythm that honors your culture and real life.

If you have ever tried to get your household to eat better, move more, sleep more consistently, or just settle into healthier habits and felt like you were the only one carrying the vision, you are not alone. One person wants convenience. Another wants familiar comfort foods. Someone else does not want to change anything at all.

Meanwhile, u are trying to support everyone’s health w/o creating more stress, more conflict, or more work for yourself. The truth is family wellness rhythms usually do not fail because people do not care. They fail because the changes feel too sudden, too restrictive, too expensive, or too disconnected from everyday life.

Today’s conversation is not about perfection. It is about building a few steady rhythms around food, movement, sleep, stress that make life feel calmer, easier, more nourishing for everybody in the home.

    1. Start with the friction point everyone already feels

    2. Focus on rhythm, not perfection

    3. Make the nourishing choice the easy choice

    4. Build a short meal rotation your family recognizes

    5. Use a “yes, and” approach with family preferences

    6. Make movement feel natural, not like punishment

    7. Protect sleep and meal timing first

Have you ever felt like you were doing pretty well with food, maybe trying to eat better, drink more water, cut back on salt or sugar, and yet you still felt tense, tired, foggy, overwhelmed, or just not quite like yourself? If so, you are not imagining it, and you are definitely not alone.

Welcome back to the Holistic Health for Women of Color podcast, where we talk about real, sustainable ways to care for your health with more ease, more calm, and less overwhelm.

Today I want to talk about something that I think a lot of women need to hear. Feeling better is not just about food. Yes, food matters. Absolutely. But food is not the entire story.

For many Black women, the body is not only responding to what’s on the plate. It is also responding to stress, pressure, constant responsibility, poor transitions, overstimulation, not enough rest, and the habit of pushing through even when the body is asking for something different.

Also, if Beyond Food: 5 Daily Habits to Support Calm, Energy, and Blood Pressure episode speaks to you and you know your body has been asking for a reset, I want to invite you to my 30-Day Calm and Pressure Reset for MidLife Women of Color. It’s designed to help you create more calm, reduce overwhelm, and support your well-being in a realistic, doable way.

And if you know you want more personalized support for your health and wellness journey, you can also learn more about my 1-on-1 holistic coaching here:

Beyond food, your everyday habits can have a powerful impact on how calm, energized, and balanced you feel. In this podcast, we explore 5 daily habits that support calm, improve energy, and help maintain healthy blood pressure naturally. These simple wellness habits can fit into your routine and make a meaningful difference in your overall well-being.
    1. Start your day with a real transition before the world starts demanding things from you.
    2. Build in a midday reset before your body reaches its limit.

  • The Lifestyle Reset: Wellness Without Guilt
    2026/01/28

    Send us Fan Mail

Somewhere between the hustle we brag about and the exhaustion we hide, many of us have learned to “push through” like it’s a badge of honor until our bodies, relationships, and spirit quietly send the bill.

A lifestyle reset isn’t a trendy makeover or a January promise; it’s the brave, deeply personal decision to come back home to yourself to unlearn survival habits passed down as “strength,” to trade constant grind for daily peace, and to rebuild your routines around what actually matters.

It’s choosing rest without guilt, food without shame, movement without punishment, and boundaries without apology because the life you’re building should feel like it’s yours, not just something you’re enduring.

Welcome to the Holistic Health for Women of Color podcast, where confusion turns into clarity and your daily choices become a powerful path to lasting heart health. I’m Donna Williams, certified holistic health coach and founder of holisticbphealth.com.

Our topic today is “The Lifestyle Reset: How Everyday Choices Prevent and Reverse Chronic Disease”.

Listen in as Dr. Ann, an experienced internal medicine doctor, discussed lifestyle medicine's distinct approach to preventing and reversing chronic diseases.

Unlike general health advice, lifestyle medicine provides specific, evidence-based recommendations for diet, exercise, sleep, stress reduction, social connections, and toxin avoidance.

Dr. Ann M. Hester shared her book, "Patient Empowerment 101", and it’s all about helping you feel more confident in your healthcare choices, while also keeping medical costs under control.

  • Stressed and Never Alone: Micro-Calm Tools for Everyday Life!
    2026/01/20

    Send us Fan Mail

If you’ve been feeling stressed and never alone, like your day is one long stretch of taking care of everyone and everything, this episode is for you. Because real talk not all of us can “just take a break,” disappear for a quiet hour, or have uninterrupted self-care on standby. Today I’m sharing micro-calm tools you can use right in the middle of your real life between the texts, the tasks, the people who need you, so you can still come back to yourself, even when you don’t get a moment alone.

You’re listening to the Holistic Health for Women of Color podcast, the space where we reclaim heart health as a daily practice of self-care, self-knowledge, and self-advocacy.

When people talk about stress relief, there’s often this quiet assumption baked in that you have space. A door you can close. A calm house. 15 uninterrupted minutes where nobody needs a snack, a signature, a response, a ride, or a decision. What if you don’t have that?

What if your days are loud, layered, and full of kids moving a mile a minute, family responsibilities, work pings, group chats, elders calling, someone needing you in the kitchen, someone needing you in the hallway, someone needing you in your own head.

In a lot of cultures, especially tight-knit family cultures, “alone time” isn’t just hard to find it can feel almost unrealistic. Like a luxury. Or worse, like something you’re not “supposed” to need. If solitude isn’t an option, do you have to wait to feel like yourself again?

If you’re thinking, “I don’t need another tip I need a reset,” that’s exactly why I created The Fresh Start Formula.

Because regulation isn’t only something you do in quiet. It’s something you can practice inside real life inside noise, inside caregiving, inside community, inside the moments where you’re “on” for everyone else.

Here are a few ways to stay connected to your nervous system:

Use sensory anchors that don’t require silence

Don’t wait for “after.” Let micro-endings happen in between

  • A Different Kind of January Reset And a Fresh Start That Actually Lasts!
    2025/12/27

    Send us Fan Mail

A different kind of January reset doesn’t start with a color-coded planner or another list of impossible goals, it starts with you quietly deciding that this year, your online business, side hustle, a job, will finally serve your life, not consume it. Forget the “new year, new you” noise. This is about stripping away the tactics that drain you, doubling down on what actually works, and intentionally building a business that feels sustainable, profitable, and aligned with who you are. This January, you’re not rebooting out of guilt or FOMO; you’re redesigning the way you show up, create, and grow on your own terms.

Welcome to the Holistic Health for Women of Color podcast, where your well-being is more than a number on a chart it’s a reflection of your story, your culture, and your power.

Imagine this it’s early January. Your inbox is full of “New Year, New You” slogans, your feed is stacked w color‑coded planners, step goals, & morning routine reels. There’s this familiar, subtle pressure in the air: Be better. Do more. Fix everything!

You might feel like you’re supposed to sprint into the year where u set sharper goals, be more disciplined & finally organize everything that still feels chaotic. And sure, that can feel exciting for a moment. But under the surface, there’s often tension, a quiet urgency, like you’re behind. A sense that time is running out & a belief that if you don’t “optimize” now, you’ll waste the year.

Let’s challenge that. What if there is nothing you need to catch up on? What if the beginning of the year isn’t a test of your willpower, discipline, or productivity but a transition? A threshold. A doorway you’re allowed to walk through at your own pace.

What if January didn’t demand a “better version” of you, but invited a kinder one? One that’s more supportive of your energy, more honest about your limits and more aligned with what you actually value.

Today that’s the heart of this conversation. And it’s also the heart of something new I’ve created for 2026, called ‘
