• 92 - TRUE COURAGE ALWAYS COMES AT A PRICE | J.K. Rowling (Author) | 1965 - Present
    2026/08/19

The message arrived in the middle of the night.

Another threat from a shadowy, enraged stranger promising a violent attack.

Such cowardly messages appeared simply because J. K. Rowling, the acclaimed author of the Harry Potter Series, had refused to say what others demanded she say.

They threatened her family. Her highly popular books were targeted for boycott. Former friends and colleagues publicly disowned her.

Yet the courageous woman she is, J. K. Rowling did something that frightened her critics more than silence ever could. She spoke with even greater clarity and fortitude.

In her amazing public stand, the depth of her character shown for all the world to see. A strong woman who, after reaching the summit of literary success, discovered a deeper, more powerful message to our world.

I see J. K. Rowling’s example of courage as her most valuable contribution of all, especially as an example to our kids today. She demonstrates that true courage always comes at a price...

  • 91 - WHEN ONE MAN'S CHOICES SAVED OUR WORLD | Winston Churchill (Prime Minister) | WWII
    2026/08/12

The sky above London glowed bright crimson. It was not the red of a setting sun but the terrible glow of a city on fire and under siege.

German bombers droned through the darkness, dropping tons of incendiary bombs upon homes, churches, and factories. Fire engines raced through shattered neighborhoods while exhausted rescue workers clawed through broken buildings with bleeding hands, searching for survivors. Every explosion shook the foundations of one of the world’s leading cities.

Across the continent, Adolf Hitler's armies had conquered nation after nation with breathtaking speed. Nearly every military expert believed Britain would soon find itself under full scale Nazi invasion.

In the midst of the smoke and ruin, one solid, broad-shouldered man wearing a determined scowl beneath his bowler hat, refused even to whisper the word “surrender.”

His name was Winston Churchill. And history would forever remember him as the man who stared into the totalitarian abyss and never blinked...

  • 90 - HE HATED THOSE DIVIDING AMERICA | Frederick Douglass (Abolitionist) | Civil War
    2026/08/05

One autumn evening just prior to the Civil War, the escaped slave Frederick Douglass stepped onto the platform of an abolitionist street meeting knowing he could get beat up, maybe even lynched for his efforts. Pro-slavery supporters shouted obscenities with each word he spoke.

Looking into the faces of those who hated the cause of liberty for all, courageously Frederick Douglass declared slavery a deep moral evil that was rotting America from within.

Frederick Douglass was self-taught. He traded bread to poor white boys in exchange for reading lessons and old books. He kept old newspapers and squirreled them away to read when alone.

He listened to inspiring speeches and memorized them. He secretly borrowed his master’s Bible, reading it long into the night. Every new word he mastered strengthened his mind.

His tireless abolitionist campaigning changed the course of history helping support the war effort, the War Between the States that would free those in bondage...

  • 89 - LINCOLN'S FORGOTTEN MESSAGE TO AMERICA | Battle of Gettysburg | Civil War
    2026/07/29

As casualty reports from Gettysburg poured in, President Abraham Lincoln wrestled with one haunting question:

How could he tell thousands of grieving families their loved ones had not died in vain?

More than 51,000 American casualties in the bloodiest battle in the nation’s history.

Preparing for his Gettysburg cemetery dedication speech, Lincoln turned to the Declaration of Independence, recognizing that the Civil War was testing whether a nation founded on God-given rights could survive.

At Gettysburg, he reminded Americans that the fallen had already consecrated the battlefield through their sacrifice. The responsibility now belonged to the living.

His warning still echoes today: freedom is never inherited automatically. Freedom is entrusted to ordinary men and women who must decide, in every generation, whether they will prove worthy of those who came before them.

That was America’s unfinished work at Gettysburg. It remains America’s unfinished work today.

  • 88 - GREATEST LAWMAN IN AMERICAN HISTORY | Bass Reeves (U.S. Deputy Marshal) | American West
    2026/07/22

No one wanted the assignment. To bring in two desperate killers with a nasty habit of ambushing lawmen.

US Deputy Marshal Bass Reeves was assigned the task. Packing light, he headed into Indian Territory alone, as he typically operated, in disguise as a poor, weary vagabond.

When reaching the outlaws' hideout—found by his exceptional tracking skills learned from years living with local Indian tribes—the outlaws suspected nothing. The criminals laughed and boasted of their murders of lawmen and countless robberies.

Then they found themselves staring down the barrel of a shotgun.

Marshal Reeves stated matter-of-factly that they could go to jail upright walking as men, or draped across their horses like dead animals, it didn’t much matter to him. So, he marched the handcuffed and hobbled prisoners off to Fort Smith, Arkansas for trial.

Today, historians recognize Bass Reeves as one of the greatest lawmen in American history. His many exploits inspired popular fictional Western heroes like the Lone Ranger and others.

  • 87 - YOUNG WASHINGTON: Should You See It?... 🎥 *Movie Review*
    2026/07/15

There’s a movie out right now you must see. More so, you need to take your children and grandchildren.

Most Americans have heard of George Washington. But few understand how absolutely irreplaceable he was to our American story.

Practically no one has been taught in our schools and universities that, contrary to nearly every leader in world history, he willingly gave up power when he could have easily seized it for life.

And practically no one knows where his remarkable story actually began and that his life was miraculously preserved on so many occasions.

These are well documented accounts. And this exceptional movie finally brings them out for all to see.

We are, as a nation, starved of this endless historical reservoir of miracles offering evidence of God’s loving hand when needed most. Fortunately, we now have a movie in theaters depicting these events for all to see.

I’m Rick Robison and this is the FORGOTTEN PATRIOTS Podcast.

  • 86 - THE BULLET JUST MISSED HIS HEART | Ronald Reagan (US President) | 1911-2004
    2026/07/08

On March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot outside the Washington Hilton Hotel when an assassin's bullet narrowly missed his heart.

Despite his injuries, Reagan's humor and courage reassured a worried nation saying to the doctors: “I hope you’re all Republicans.” To which the lead surgeon replied: “We’re all Republicans today, sir.”

Born in 1911 in Illinois, Reagan learned hard work through a modest upbringing and became known for courageously rescuing swimmers as a lifeguard. He worked as a radio announcer and later as a Hollywood actor, developing communication skills that earned him the nickname "The Great Communicator."

After serving in the Army during World War II and leading the Screen Actors Guild, Reagan entered politics, switching from Democrat to Republican. He became governor of California and, in 1980, the 40th president of the United States.

Reagan promoted free-market principles, confronted and ended Soviet communism, and inspired discouraged Americans with his optimism, leadership, humor, and belief in personal liberty and unencumbered opportunity.

  • 85 - RESCUING THE REVOLUTION | Haym Salomon (Spy & Financier) | Revolutionary War
    2026/07/01

As British forces under General Charles Cornwallis weakly huddled at Yorktown in 1781, George Washington faced one final obstacle: the Continental Army had no money to pay troops or buy supplies.

Salvation came from Haym Salomon, a Jewish immigrant from Poland, financier, and patriot who secured the funds needed to sustain and feed the army.

Arriving in New York in 1772, Salomon embraced the American cause, joining the Sons of Liberty and later serving as a spy for Washington in British-occupied New York. Arrested and sentenced to death, he bribed a guard and escaped to Philadelphia.

Using his financial expertise and personal fortune, Salomon raised loans, extended credit, and repeatedly spent his own money to support the Revolution. His efforts helped make victory at Yorktown possible.

Yet despite sacrificing everything, he died in 1785 financially ruined, his family in poverty, and largely pushed aside—a crucial yet forgotten hero of American independence.
