概要

 The title of our podcast is pretty straightforward. We are looking to hear God in Scripture. We believe proper hermeneutics is rare, that is, the ability to properly read the Bible is not commonly known or practiced. We believers are commanded to know and study the Scriptures. We should also study to properly understand what they say. These Scriptures are God’s words to us. God spoke to us. Now we need to read them right. Not only did God speak, He still speaks. We shouldn’t just read the Scripture to pull it apart and examine it, we should be listening to God, listening for His voice as we read the text. Our hermeneutic is, “the Text is the Master”. We submit to the text. We do not have the right to twist it around to make it say what we want it to say. Rather, we discover what God is saying to us through His Word.     Isaiah 19:22

    And the Lord will strike Egypt, striking and healing, and they will return to the Lord, and he will listen to their pleas for mercy and heal them.

    This passage from Isaiah 19 demonstrates God’s way of dealing with people, any people. He wants people to come close to him. To make this closer relationship with God happen, God strikes people. He strikes you. He doesn’t want to strike you, but he wants to get your attention and bring you back to him. God strikes so that he can heal, so that he can have mercy and bring the Egyptians (and you and me) close to Him. Let us not shun the striking of God, but embrace it and let God heal and let God draw us near to Himself.

    Leviticus 9:6

    And Moses said, “This is the thing that the LORD commanded you to do, that the glory of the LORD may appear to you.”


    Moses tells the people that they are going to see God and see His glory. So, he gives them directions. Offer these sacrifices so that you can see God’s glory. In other words, get yourself clean, spiritually, and right, so that you can see God. This is a wonderful communion passage.

    Romans 3:10

    as it is written:


    “None is righteous, no, not one;


    Paul delivers this message about everyone sinning because he is speaking to the Romans about the gospel. Paul gets this message from the Old Testament, God’s word. Paul thinks this way. Paul studied. Paul heard from God. Paul’s thinking was influenced by the Scriptures. Paul studied and heard God from these Scriptures. God expects us to hear God in the same way, develop our thinking the same way, from God’s word and listening to God in His word.

    And what Paul knows, and we should know, is that there is none righteous. This knowledge will drive us to Jesus. Admit your sin and say, “Jesus, save me!”
