St Luke’s Gospel has formed the basis of our readings this year and in it we have been given a number of tips about prayer and the relationship Jesus had with the broken, suffering and downtrodden. He takes care to describe Christ’s welcome of those ignored by society and those who were readily excluded by the elders and ignored by others. They included women, children, the poor, tax collectors, prostitutes, the sick, broken and the weak. To all of these Jesus offers salvation, strength and spiritual recovery.
