(soundcloud.com / andoryukesuta)@andoryukesuta In 1995, four-year-old Kevin injures himself in an incident that his six-year-old sister Kaylee attributes to sleepwalking. Kevin is taken to a hospital and brought back home. The siblings wake up in the middle of the night to find that their father has disappeared and that the windows, doors, and other objects in their house are gradually vanishing. Kevin suggests they sleep downstairs, where they watch cartoons on television. They awaken to find the house still dark, hear an unexplained thumping noise, and find a chair upside-down on the ceiling. Kevin then suggests that their father "went with mom," but Kaylee requests that they do not discuss their mother. The toilet in the downstairs bathroom disappears. On their way to the upstairs bathroom, Kaylee sees a doll on a bedroom ceiling and Kevin ends up too frightened to use the toilet, so they decide to place two buckets in the downstairs bathroom. A mysterious voice calls to Kaylee from the darkness and tells her to come upstairs, where she sees their father in a bedroom. He tells her to look under the bed, but she does not see anything. She then sees their mother sitting on the bed. Her mother says that she and their father love Kaylee and Kevin, and instructs her to close her eyes before vanishing. Kaylee looks at the open closet and hears her mother say "there's someone here". From the closet, she hears her mother calling her name as well as moans of pain and bones breaking. She is startled by a hand reaching around a corner and panics. Kaylee runs downstairs, where Kevin helps her push the couch to block off the hallway from which the voice was calling her. When Kevin falls asleep, the voice calls Kaylee again. When Kevin wakes up, he sees that Kaylee is gone and toys and objects are suspended against a wall. The voice beckons Kevin into the basement, where he sees Kaylee, who no longer has eyes or a mouth. The voice tells him it wants to play as some of the toys begin to disappear. A drawer opens in the kitchen, and Kevin complies with the voice's command to insert a knife into one of his eyes. Kevin calls 9-1-1 and tells the operator he was hurt and feels sick. The operator tells him to stay on the line and that adults are on their way. Kevin informs the operator that the doors have disappeared before dropping the phone, which then turns into a Chatter Telephone toy. The voice claims responsibility for this, telling Kevin that it can "do anything". It says that Kaylee disobeyed it and demanded to see her parents, so it took away her mouth. The voice tells Kevin to come upstairs. Holding a flashlight, Kevin finds himself on the ceiling. He walks into a bedroom which becomes a void, and a dollhouse is shown sitting on a pile of toys in a seemingly infinite hallway as onscreen text reads "572 days". Kaylee is seen sitting on the bed; her body slowly fades away, followed by her head. Photos are shown of people with their faces either missing or distorted. Kevin cries out as blood splatters onto the floor, then disappears and splatters repeatedly. He asks Kaylee if they can watch "something happy", followed by an apparition of a door. In the dark, an unidentifiable face appears over him in his bed and tells him to go to sleep. Kevin asks the face what its name is twice. It does not respond.

Days later, her body is found in a stormwater drainage basin. Her parents, Russell and June, are called to identify the remains. Russell confirms the identity, but June refuses to view the body. Ten days after the funeral, Alice's brother Mathew develops unexplained bruises, and the family begins hearing strange noises. Russell reports an aggressive encounter with an apparition, while June experiences recurring nightmares of Alice's drenched corpse. Mathew takes up photography and appears to capture Alice's figure in the backyard and in a photograph taken at the lake. Hoping Alice may still be alive, the Palmers request an exhumation and DNA test, which confirms that the body is hers. Meanwhile, Mathew installs cameras around the house to record apparent sightings of Alice. June consults self-proclaimed psychic Ray Kemeney, who conducts a séance but cannot explain the phenomena. Months later, Mathew confesses that he fabricated the ghostly photographs and videos to persuade his parents to exhume Alice's body, allowing June another opportunity to see her and find closure. A home video recorded while the family is away appears to show Alice's apparition and their neighbour Brett Toohey, whom Alice had babysat for, searching her bedroom. June subsequently discovers a hidden videotape showing Alice in a threesome with Brett and his wife, Marissa. Russell concludes that Brett was searching for the tape after learning of Alice's death. The Tooheys soon sell their house and disappear. The Palmers are informed that legal action would probably result only in a suspended sentence, as the encounter would be considered consensual. Ray later reveals that Alice visited him months before her death, describing recurring dreams about drowning and death, as well as her fear that her mother would be unable to see or help her. She had also recorded these fears in her journal. Alice's boyfriend, Jason Whittle, provides mobile phone footage from a school trip to Lake Mungo, showing Alice burying something beneath a tree. The Palmers visit the site and recover her phone. Its footage shows Alice walking along the shoreline at night before encountering a bloated, disfigured version of herself, identical to the body recovered at the dam, floating slowly towards her.

(soundcloud.com / andoryukesuta)@andoryukesuta The opening text explains that the footage shown was confiscated by the U.S. government in 2009, until an anonymous source leaked it for the entire world to see. Claridge, a town located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, thrives on its water supply. Consequently, the nearby chicken farm has come under fire for polluting the Chesapeake Bay by dumping chicken excrement and other toxins into the water. As rookie reporter Donna Thompson covers a local Fourth of July celebration, dozens of citizens fall violently ill and exhibit severe lesions. Overwhelmed with patients, Dr. Jack Abrams, the head of the Atlantic Hospital, contacts the CDC, which initially believes a viral outbreak is the cause. The town descends into chaos as people begin dying en masse within hours: the first casualty is reported by Claridge police that afternoon. Later on, a 911 call is made by a distraught woman reporting that her neighbor is wandering on her property, covered in boils and screaming in agony. Teenager Denise Button and her boyfriend are attacked and killed by an unknown animal while swimming in a creek. Their bodies are never found, but a 12-year-old discovers the camera that documented the incident. Meanwhile, several citizens report bizarre symptoms, including the feeling of bugs in their bodies. A few months before the outbreak, oceanographers Sam and Jaqueline discovered high toxicity levels in the bay. After encountering multiple fish eaten from the inside out, they realized that the true culprit was massive, mutated tongue-eating lice. The bay water was polluted by massive amounts of excrement from chickens, who were fed steroids for rapid growth. Because of this, the isopods proliferated tremendously, killing off millions of fish and causing 40% of the bay to become lifeless. The lesions result from the isopods eating their hosts from the inside out. Sam and Jaqueline attempted to alert city authorities, but the mayor, John Stockman, ignored the warnings. A swarm of fully-grown isopods eventually killed Sam and Jaqueline and their bodies were later discovered. The Talmet family, consisting of Alex, Stephanie, and their infant son Andrew, sail to Claridge, unaware of the danger, as the town has been forcibly quarantined and local law enforcement has shut down cell towers. The isopods have also infected Stephanie's parents. Two deputies, Jimson and Paul, answer a call concerning someone screaming in pain; in a digitally enhanced audio recording, Jimson encounters an infected family begging to be killed. Having gone insane from seeing what has happened, he euthanizes them and subsequently murders Paul after one of the isopods bites him. After being confronted by Stockman and Sheriff Lee Roberts, the lesion-covered Jimson kills Roberts and himself. Stockman attempts to flee in Roberts' police car, only to be killed in a collision.
