  • New Mayor, Christian Hook Studio, Silent Night Concert

    We spoke about Parliament with our News Editor Christine Vasquez, as the motion to approve the appointment of Nicholas Guerrero as Mayor and Andrea Simpson as Deputy Mayor was part of today's agenda.


    Internationally acclaimed local artist Christian Hook is opening the doors of his guardhouse studio to the general public today. As part of this special event, a range of prints will be on sale with ten percent of the sales going to the GBC Open Day. Shelina Assomul was there.


    And as the weather starts to cool, at last, we're looking ahead to a Christmas concert, the Classical Music Society is bringing Silent Night to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity at the end of this month. We spoke to Delilah Smith Yeo and Christine Vasquez.

    The UK House of Commons Treasury Select Committee has been considering arguments for and against the proposed tax increase on the gambling industry, expected to be announced in the UK Budget on 26 November. UK Gaming companies have threatened wide-spread closures if the Chancellor goes ahead with increased taxes. We discussed how this could affect Gibraltar.


    But most of today’s episode will focus on menopause. What is it, how does it affect us, and why do we need to talk about it? We took a deep dive into this topic with Dr Reena Verdi, GP and part of the team at the Well Woman clinic; Daniella Payas and Gabriella Agius from the Department of personnel and development; and Petra Boddington, a fully qualified and licensed menopause champion.

    In football news - last night Manchester 62 staged a planned 2-minute sit-down protest reportedly over several months of unpaid wages for players and staff. We heard from team captain Joseph Chipolina.


    Journalist and broadcaster Alice Mascarenhas has launched a new book, Palabras Al Viento, celebrating the writings and radio broadcasts of her father, Manolo Mascarenhas.


    We caught up with Gibraltarian Pili Rodriguez, who has been unanimously reappointed as Chair of Citizens Advice International.


    The Gibraltar National Museum has signed a landmark scientific cooperation agreement with a University in Marrakech, on bat conservation. Dr Stewart Finlayson explained the significance of this partnership.
