    Jacob Mitchell has been hunting something through the woods for three days, following black sap and boiling footprints, not realizing he's being herded while the forest itself remembers being lake bottom. Aaron Mitchell, stretched with extra joints and extending thirty feet tall, leads Margaret to his grandfather's body from 1974—transformed into a living tree with transparent bark showing working organs, growing cocoons that birth dozens of wrong versions of Margaret with antlers, compound eyes, and backward torsos.

    The Mitchells aren't hunters but living webs strung through the canopy, while the Margaret-things reveal "it" isn't a creature but the relationship between predator and prey—the moment of the pounce itself. Twenty more malformed Margarets wait at the library, explaining they'll watch her die on Halloween then eat each other until only one perfect version remains. The forest keeps rearranging itself as Aaron's body weaves through the trees like a spider, telling Margaret she's both hunter and hunted, chasing herself through time while already caught in the web.

    Miss Williams barricades her third-grade class in Room 104, feeding the children pieces of her own skin that make their throats glow blue while she rapidly ages, as wet shadows with backward-bending joints retreat in fear—revealing the children aren't prey but predators being prepared to hunt. Margaret finds the current Miss Williams multiplying into seven versions of different ages, all teaching simultaneously while the twenty-three children reveal mouths that open impossibly wide, containing their miniature parents being dissolved by glowing saliva.

    The teachers merge back together wrongly—arms emerging from mouths, legs from eye sockets—before revealing they're the original teacher from 1774, while the children aren't children at all but twenty-three stomachs that learned to walk and talk. When Lucy Henderson touches Margaret, she doesn't just grab her but existentially swallows years of her life, making Margaret younger by eating her time. The children reveal through drawings that everyone is being eaten from inside, one nibble at a time, while the Pattern needs seven more mouths to complete its set of thirty teeth.

    Father Morrison attempts to bless the Henley house where a family died, but emerges with blackened teeth and a split tongue, immediately burning all holy items in the church while ringing bells that spell names of the soon-to-die in Morse code. Davidson ambushes Margaret in the library, revealing his true form—millions of tiny scales layered to look human—warning that the vial from Dr. Ashford isn't poison but the final ingredient to prepare her as IT's feast. Father Williams, his body partially inverted with external organs, shows Margaret the "real Bible" written on living skin, revealing that humanity, Earth, and everything else are just IT's dream of food—the thirty families are actually antibodies trying to wake IT before the dream becomes real and must be properly digested. The priest attacks with the murder knife, declaring himself the true killer this time, as the church transforms into a throat and Margaret flees through a cemetery where every open grave shows her dying repeatedly. The knife now crawls independently, hunting Margaret through the streets as she realizes everyone may be lying about the solution.
