"You'll never change. God must be disappointed in me. People would reject me if they really knew me. I'm not enough."

Have you ever heard that voice? That's shame. And according to Scripture, it has absolutely nothing to do with your Father.

In this deeply personal and powerfully liberating episode of Face to Face with God, Rick Osborne traces shame all the way back to its origin — the moment Adam and Eve's eyes were opened in the garden — and shows you exactly how Jesus went to the cross to take it away forever. What if desperation is not the high watermark of spiritual maturity - but actually a sign of a dysfunctional relationship with God?

That's the question relational theologian and storyteller Jason Clark brings to this extraordinary episode of Supernatural Prayer Stories - and the answer he discovered through two of the most raw, real, and ultimately liberating seasons of his life.

STORY 1 - THE HIDDEN YEARS

Nineteen years ago, while out for a run with life going beautifully, Jason heard his heavenly Father say: "Jason, I'm going into hiding, and I'm removing all your friends." What followed was two years of silence, a collapsed construction business, and 18 months without being able to pay the mortgage. In the middle of it, driving his two-year-old daughter through Charlotte - she calling stop signs "octagons" and the restaurant "Fat Bamito" - Jason cried out to God between her observations and had a sudden epiphany: "I'm intimate with her language, but I'm teaching her mine. Maybe God has better language for me."

Two years later, out for another run, the tap turned back on. God took Jason back to a moment at Bible college when a woman named Sister Sylvia had prayed over him: "You feel like a spiritual dwarf, but God sees you as a spiritual giant." Jason had wept then - the ugly, embarrassing kind - because he wanted it to be true but didn't believe it. Now God said: "Before the foundations of the earth, I have seen you in Christ. You can keep living insecure and desperate - or you can decide to agree with me today." And then: "Hey Jason, am I a good Father? Then if there's dysfunction in our relationship, it's not on my end."

Jason prayed what he calls the most transformative prayer of his life: "From this moment forward, I will only interact with you based on your love - not based on my need."

STORY 2 - THE TIRE, THE $1,000, AND THE TIMES TWO LOVE

Still in the aftermath of the hidden years - $200 to his name, dangerous tires, driving three hours to a conference where he felt completely invisible - Jason refused to pray desperate prayers. Instead: "Father, you're aware of this, and I trust in the measureless nature of your love that you'll provide." The front driver's side tire blew in the Walmart parking lot as he handed over his keys. The attending said: "You've got somebody driving with you, man." A stranger pulled his truck onto the sidewalk and handed Jason an envelope - exactly $1,000. And while laughing about the tire getting every last inch it was designed for, Jason told God: "I want you to feel about me at the end of my life the way I'm feeling about that silly tire right now." God interrupted him immediately: "Son, since before the foundations of the earth, I felt that about you. Well done. It's already yours."

What if the reason knowing God feels so hard isn't a discipline problem, a faith problem, or a prayer problem — but simply that you didn't know Jesus already promised to fix it?
