Georgia Tech’s football team is off to a brutal 0-2 start, struggling offensively and defensively—especially against the run—but still has ten games left before ACC play. The Football Power Index sees early hope in a near-lock win against Mercer (93%), but quickly tapers off with tough matchups ahead: Stanford (57%), Duke (42%), Virginia Tech (22%), and Pittsburgh (18%). Even home games against Louisville (27%) and Clemson (33%) look dicey. Bright spots? A solid 74% chance vs. Boston College and 49% vs. Wake Forest. And while beating rival Georgia in the finale is nearly impossible at just 3%, recent close calls make it feel possible.

Justice Haynes just made headlines with a jaw-dropping performance against ranked Tennessee, exploding for 117 yards and two touchdowns — his first over 100 yards as a Yellow Jacket and only the fourth time in his career he’s hit that mark with two scores. The award? Comeback Player of the Week — a nod to his resilience after a brutal injury last year that cut his Michigan season short. Now, back at Georgia Tech for Family Weekend, Haynes and the team are ready to keep rolling as they face Mercer this Saturday at noon. With big games ahead against Duke and Louisville, this win could be the spark they need to turn their season around.

Georgia Tech returns home for their third straight game, still chasing that elusive first win of the season, as they face Mercer in their final non-conference matchup before diving into ACC play. The depth chart remains mostly unchanged, but injuries on the offensive line—Ethan Mackenny, Malachi Carney, and Jameson Riggs—are casting doubt on Saturday’s lineup, with no official report due to the non-ACC status. Defensively, Jaylen Mbakwe is back and healthy (though sore) after a scary moment against Tennessee, but his playing time is uncertain. Coaches are also pushing for more reps at linebacker and safety, hinting at potential rotation changes. With Justice Haynes leading the running backs, expect increased looks for Braylon Outlaw and Cayman Spaulding—could this be the breakout game before conference play begins? Kickoff is noon ET on the ACC Network.
