    On the day before Labor Day, 2025, I spoke at Pathways Unitarian Church in Hurst, Texas. I went on for nearly 45 minutes, but was able to cut it down to 30 minutes for this podcast. I could have made it much shorter by just saying "everybody is screwed if they don't get organized and form coalitions around the labor movement." That is what I said, but I explained it a little bit more fully.

  • Roots of the Right to Retire

    The right to retire is a fairly new concept in America. It didn't just happen nor did it come about as a gift from our loving bosses. It may be true that certain bosses came up with employer-provided pensions, but that was only after Social Security and was an attempt to divided the working class rather than a gift.

    The right to retire is based on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. All of them were dreamed up by the labor movement, created by the labor movement, and pushed through legislation by the labor movement. Celebrate July 30 and August 14 with the firm understanding that it was your own working class forebearers who caused them!
