We're all precious with our words but sometimes–more often than no–it's extremely necessary to CUT.

Think about your characters. Think about what they do. What are their everyday routines? What are their rituals, their patterns. What is the mundane thing from their life that you can take and twist around?

Sometimes the only way to get your story out there is to make the play easily producible — lowering the barrier to entry for producers to put your work up on stage. And sometimes that means sacrificing a life-sized helicopter on stage.

This serves as a reminder to myself as well. As a stubborn person, I too make excuses to push away my writing time sometimes. But sometimes, all we need is a not-so-gentle reminder.

There really is no magic number. There isn't even a standardise way to keep track of drafts. Whatever it may be, you need to know what and when is right for you, your your play.

Ideas really can come from anywhere. Sometimes in the wildest of places, sometimes in the most mundane ones. But don't search necessarily search too hard for ideas, sometimes the best ones come when you least expect it.

You don't necessarily need to WRITE extremes. But think it. Just so you have direction, you know what it can go, you know how exciting it can be!

I know, it can be very stressful to write things that change the world. But that shouldn't stop you from writing anything you want. You are free to create world, change it, fucked it up. You can do so much with words.
