In the Christian doctrine of salvation, we are saved from “wrath,” that is, from God’s judgment of sin. Our sin has separated us from God, and the consequence of sin is death. Biblical salvation refers to your deliverance from the consequences of sin. It’s only Jesus’ death on the cross and subsequent resurrection that achieved your salvation. Today, Pastor Jimmy will explain that salvation is the gracious, undeserved gift of God and is only available through faith in Jesus Christ.

Have you ever been somewhere where you felt really out of place? When you looked around the room, you realized that you weren’t dressed right, you didn’t have the right vocabulary, and you certainly couldn’t relate to their spending habits. In first-century Rome, well-off families would hire a tutor or a mentor to train their children. This tutor would teach the children everything - from basic education to philosophy, as well as any practical skills they’d need in life. When a child would come of age, the tutor would no longer be needed; their job was complete. When you work in business, it makes sense to work hard because the more you bust your tail, the higher up the ladder you can climb. The harder you work, the higher you climb, and the higher you get, the more you get out of it all. In his message today, Pastor Jimmy shares with you that when it comes to salvation, you can never work hard enough or climb high enough to reach heaven. Yes, you absolutely should work hard for the Lord; not to earn salvation, but because He gives it to you freely.

Sometimes, social pressures are enough to cause even those with the strongest convictions to cave under them. In the early Church, even the Apostle Peter faltered when it came to the pressure of the legalists who wanted the Gentile Christians to keep the Jewish law. In his message today, Pastor Jimmy shares with you that the law could never save you, and that the only way you can be made right with God is by grace through faith in Jesus. His work on the cross did what the law could never do.

Where does the disconnect come from between the words of Scripture and many people’s aims for salvation? Jesus’ finished work on the cross paid the price for all sins of all mankind past, present, and future. Don’t fall into the trap of believing you must do more! The beauty of the Gospel is that it is ALL possible only through the finished work of Jesus.
