Your doctor said your labs are normal. But you still don’t feel right. We’ll get to the root cause, even when other practitioners have stopped looking.

Dr. Ben Galyardt is a functional medicine doctor and founder of F8 Wellness. He has worked with more than 15,000 patients over 25 years, most of them women who had been to multiple doctors and left with no answers.

This Podcast covers thyroid dysfunction, Hashimoto's, low ferritin, POTS, autoimmune root causes, postpartum crashes, and the bloodwork your doctor is not running.

F8 Wellness is a fully remote practice. Patients across the US can work with Dr. Ben's team directly.

New episodes every week. If you have been dismissed, this Podcast was built for you.

If your labs are normal, why do you feel so bad? Exhaustion, insomnia, digestive issues, and hair falling out do not feel healthy. After working with over 15,000 patients, I have seen the same story again and again. Normal labs, terrible life. Your doctor is not lying to you, but they are reading the wrong standard.

In this episode, I'm going to show you the biggest mistake your doctor is making with your bloodwork, what your numbers should actually be, and what to do before your next appointment.

1:19 What normal on a lab report really means
1:56 Why average means sick in America
2:44 Real patient stories of normal labs, terrible life
3:16 What your lab reference range is actually built from
4:56 What optimal ferritin, vitamin D, and TSH should be
6:40 Why TSH alone hides thyroid dysfunction

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: Why do I feel terrible if my doctor says my labs are normal?
A: Normal only means your result fits inside a statistical range built from a large pool of people, many of whom are already unwell. It does not mean your body is functioning optimally, and it definitely does not mean you feel your best.

Q: What ferritin and vitamin D levels should I actually aim for?
A: Optimal ferritin should sit above 75, not just above 12. Optimal vitamin D should sit above 60, not just above 30, since those low end cutoffs were built to catch severe deficiency, not to define health.

Q: Why does TSH alone not tell the full thyroid story?
A: TSH is only one marker out of many, and a normal TSH can hide poor T4 to T3 conversion or high antibodies. A full thyroid panel checks free T3, free T4, reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies to see the complete picture of how your thyroid is actually functioning.

  • Why Thyroid Medication Isn’t Helping…And What to Do Next
    2026/07/23

📱 DM Dr. Ben "THYROID" on Instagram @drbenf8 to get the free "Thyroid Secrets Revealed" webinar.

Levothyroxine is the most prescribed thyroid drug in America, and it has never fixed a single thyroid gland. After treating over 15,000 patients, Dr. Ben Galyardt knows exactly why your medication makes your labs look perfect while you still feel exhausted, cold, foggy, and stuck.

In this episode, I'm going to show you why the most common thyroid test tells you almost nothing about what is actually wrong, and what bloodwork you actually need to get the real answer.

    ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 Why Thyroid Medication Isn’t Helping…And What to Do Next
0:51 Why your TSH test is misleading you
1:59 What your medication is really doing
2:20 T4 vs T3, the hormone conversion problem
3:16 Why half of patients can't convert T4 to T3
4:26 The 80 percent Hashimoto's connection nobody mentions
5:40 Signs your Hashimoto's was never actually treated
6:55 The patient whose thyroid disappeared
8:11 What your next doctor visit should look like

    ❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Why isn't my levothyroxine working even though my labs are normal?
Levothyroxine only replaces T4 hormone. If your body cannot convert T4 into active T3, your cells never get the hormone they need to function, no matter how normal your TSH looks on paper.

Is Hashimoto's the same as hypothyroidism?
No. Over 80 percent of hypothyroid cases are actually Hashimoto's, an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks the thyroid gland over time. Medication replaces the missing hormone but does nothing to stop the ongoing autoimmune attack destroying the gland.

What bloodwork should I ask for if I have thyroid symptoms?
Ask for a full thyroid panel including free T3, reverse T3, TPO antibodies, and thyroglobulin antibodies. This reveals whether an autoimmune process, not just low hormone levels, is actually driving your symptoms, and standard TSH testing alone will miss it completely.

💬 Have you been on levothyroxine for years with labs that look fine, but you still feel exhausted? Tell me your TSH and how long you have been on medication in the comments. I read these.
