You learn to adapt and adjust to your situation. Comparing your experience with what you see in another parents journey does not mean HOW you go about doing things is wrong or is right.
There are books, articles, blogs, TV shows that can tell you how to parent, but it's not exactly a one size fits all kind of thing is it? Every child, every mother, every pregnancy, every birth is unique and different.
