Is your podcast getting lost in a sea of other shows, even though you're putting in the work?

Are you struggling to figure out podcast SEO, attract new listeners, or understand why other podcasts keep outranking yours?

Or maybe you're wondering why all that time behind the mic isn't translating into more visibility, authority, and business growth?

You're in the right place.

Welcome to Top Ranked, the podcast for women entrepreneurs who want to stop guessing at podcast growth and start building a podcast business strategy that actually works.

Around here, we make podcast marketing practical, approachable, and a whole lot more interesting.

Here's what we'll talk about:

✨ How to get your podcast discovered by the right listeners using podcast SEO strategies that actually make sense.

✨ What it takes to grow your podcast audience, improve your podcast growth, and compete with other shows in your category.

✨ How to create episodes people want to click on, with a podcast content strategy that takes the guesswork out of what to talk about each week.

✨ What it really takes to climb the podcasts charts, understand your rankings, and give your show a competitive edge.

✨ How to turn your podcast into a business asset that builds authority, attracts customers, and supports your bigger business goals.

But we're not stopping at the usual podcasting tips.

We'll also dig into what's happening in the podcast industry, why some shows climb the charts while others struggle to get noticed, what the platforms are changing, and what it all means for women who are serious about building businesses behind their microphones.

I'm Jan Ditchfield, Canada's leading podcast business strategist and two-time top ranked podcast host. I've helped women entrepreneurs earn more than 1,000 podcast chart placements, and I know that a successful podcast takes more than publishing another episode and hoping somebody finds it.

Whether you're trying to improve your podcast discoverability, figure out your podcast content strategy, climb the Apple Podcasts charts, or turn more listeners into customers, I'll help you understand what matters, what works, and what to do next.

Because your podcast shouldn't just be something you produce every week. It should be one of your biggest competitive advantages.

Hit follow, my friend. We've got a podcast to grow.

  • 70: The 90-Second Audience Growth Strategy to Make Your Podcast Stand Out
    2026/11/02

Does your audience growth strategy help someone who's never heard of you find your podcast? And when they do, is there enough in those first few moments to make them want to stay?

I know what it's like to look at the podcast charts and wonder what everyone else has figured out. I started with a $25 microphone and 15 downloads, and for a long time I was making episodes for people who already knew me. What I hadn't really considered was how my show would reach someone who didn't.

That's an important distinction, especially when you're growing a smaller show. Podcast positioning isn't just about what you want to talk about. It's about understanding what your next listener is already interested in and where your podcast fits into her world. Because podcast discoverability starts long before someone presses play.

But getting found is only part of an audience growth strategy. What happens when somebody gives your show a chance? I want you to think about the first 90 seconds, and whether they make a new listener feel like they've come to the right place. Not because you need a bigger production budget or a more polished personality. Because even a small show can create an experience worth coming back for.

We'll talk about the difference between serving the audience you already have and reaching the people you haven't met yet, and why podcast engagement deserves just as much attention as visibility. A good audience growth strategy makes room for both.

If you're ready to get more intentional about who finds your show, join me for the free Chart Challenge starting November 2. We'll work on positioning and visibility to help more women get found and ranked on the podcast charts.

  • 69: Does Your Podcast Marketing Strategy Still Reflect Your Business?
    2026/10/26

Does your podcast marketing strategy still reflect the business you're running today? Or is your show representing a version of your business you've already outgrown?

Two conversations this week made me take a closer look at Evergreen Marketing, Simplified. One came from helping a client make sure her podcast keeps up with her evolving business. The other happened while I was teaching podcast SEO inside The Show, when I admitted something I'd never said out loud before: I've never really liked the name of my podcast.

And that realization led to a much bigger question. What happens when your business evolves, but your podcast marketing strategy doesn't?

In this episode, we're talking about the job your show is meant to do in your business, why a business podcast can work at every stage of your marketing funnel, and how your podcast strategy should help turn listeners into customers. We'll also look at competitive positioning, podcast discoverability, and what makes someone choose your show over another. Because podcast growth isn't just about publishing more episodes.

We'll also look at the things listeners actually see and hear: your name, description, podcast content strategy, and calls to action. Sometimes a few thoughtful changes are enough to bring your podcast business strategy back into alignment. Other times, as I've discovered, it's time for something bigger.

This is the final episode under the name Evergreen Marketing, Simplified, and I'm sharing why I've decided to make a change.

If your podcast marketing strategy needs a fresh look, join me for the free Canadian Chart Challenge starting November 2. We'll spend the month working on positioning, visibility, and podcast charting to help more Canadian women get found.
