Estrangement: Turning Pain into Peace Podcast is hosted by me, Becky Kolb, Certified Life Coach specializing in family estrangement.

This podcast is for women who are estranged from a family member or close loved one and who long for answers and peace. Your relationship may not be resolved, but your life doesn't have to remain on hold.

When someone you love walks away it can you leave with questions:

What happened?

Should I reach out or step back?

Will we ever reconcile?

What could I have said or done differently?

How do I navigate holidays and family gatherings?

This work is personal to me because I've also walked the journey of family estrangement. I've wrestled with these same questions and know the emotional heartbreak, pain, guilt & shame.

And I learned through years of struggle and the professional coaching training that a relationship doesn't have to heal for you to be whole and move on with your life.

You may not be able to change the relationship right now but you can change how you live with its uncertainty and I can help you through a coaching program designed to help you find peace, wholeness and start living again.

As your coach, I will help you:

Heal from the crippling effects of guilt & shame.

Determine when to reach out and when to stay silent.

Learn the process of forgiveness - what it is and isn’t.

Build a meaningful life amid the estrangement.

Navigate difficult holidays.

Identify triggers and establish healthy boundaries.

Discover lasting peace.

This guide will help your thought process as you wrestle with those questions and bring perspectives that will help you decide what to do next.

If estrangement is keeping you stuck and unable to enjoy life, coaching may be for you. I've discovered women either don't talk about it at all or they talk with friends or other family. Those people may not tell you what you need to hear for fear of damaging the relationship. I'll be honest with you, probe and help you get to the bottom of what's keeping you stuck.

I offer a free no pressure, no obligation 30-minute conversation to see if coaching is right for you. It's not a sales pitch. If that's something you seek, navigate to www.beckykolb.com/consultation and let’s have a conversation.

  • 86: Family Estrangement: How to Stop Waiting for an Apology and Start Living Life
    2026/10/21

How to Find Peace When You Never Get an Apology or Explanation

Are you still waiting for that phone call? The one where you estranged loved one finally explains what happened, says they're sorry, or tells you they want to make things right?

Maybe you've imagined that conversation a hundred times. You've rehearsed what you would say, hoped for an explanation, and wondered if today might finally be the day.

But what happens when the phone doesn't ring? The text is ignored?

One of the hardest parts of family estrangement is living with unanswered questions. We can spend so much time waiting for someone else to do something and end up putting our own happiness and peace on hold.

In this episode of Estrangement: Turning Pain into Peace we're talking about what it means to let go of expectations, stop waiting for an apology or explanation, and begin putting your energy into the things you actually can control.

Moving forward doesn't mean you no longer love that person. It doesn't mean you've closed the door on reconciliation. It simply means you're choosing not to spend another day standing in the doorway waiting for someone else to open it.

  • 85: Waiting for Your Estranged Loved One to Change
    2026/10/02

Waiting for your estranged one to change is often postponing your own life.

When someone you love walks away, waiting can become a way of life.

You wait for the phone to ring.

    You check your texts.

You wonder if today might be the day you hear from them.

A birthday comes around and you wonder if they'll reach out. Then a holiday. Then another birthday.

And somewhere along the way, without even realizing it, you can begin putting your own life on hold.

    I understand why.

When a relationship is important to us, we want to fix it. We think if we can just find the right words, give it enough time, apologize one more time, explain ourselves better or reach out at just the right moment, maybe things will change.

Hope isn't a bad thing. I don't believe you have to give up hope for reconciliation.

But there is a difference between having hope and living in waiting.

And sometimes that difference is hard to see.
