このコンテンツについて

In this episode, Anne and Sarah revisit the day they met at the steps of Flinders Street station and the path that led Sarah out of homelessness to meaningful employment and a safe place to call home.

Since 1985, Steps Outreach Service has been walking alongside young people experiencing homelessness on the streets of Melbourne. As the youth homelessness program of Concern Australia, Steps provides night-time street outreach and long-term, practical, and relational daytime support to young people and families with children who are experiencing, or have experienced, homelessness. The Steps’ team offers belief, long-term connection, and hope to young people and families in crisis.

In this podcast series, Anne Mitchell, Manager of Steps Outreach Service, walks and talks with five remarkable members of the Steps Lived Experience Advisory Group. Each of them was first supported by Steps when they were experiencing youth homelessness and each has an inspiring story of resilience and transformation.

Through honest conversations, they share what it was like to face youth homelessness, the impact of consistent long-term support from Steps’ workers who truly cared, and how that support helped them rebuild their lives, find stability, and pursue their dreams.

This podcast shines a light on the human stories behind homelessness and shows what’s possible when people are met with compassion, trust, and long-term support.
