In this episode we’re going to talk about distractions. There are so many different distractions in our lives in 2025. The biggest one is social media. “Duh, duh, duh!” Back when I used to follow social media, I would fall into a black hole of time and come out two hours later grumpy and wondering what happened to the two hours. I post book updates on Instagram and FB so that people who use those outlets can find me, but I just can’t follow it anymore. I’m still torn about this, because I don’t want my readers to fall into the black hole of time on social media either.

Before you stop the podcast thinking I've lost my mind or that I’m way off base here, check your phone. Go to “Settings”, then “Screen Time” and just look around in there for a bit. What’s the daily average time you spend on your phone? I know it can’t all be due to me since these podcasts are tens minutes or less. You can also check how much time you spend on each social media app and even more how many times you unlock your phone a day. The number always shocks me. It’s a bad habit we’ve gotten into for comfort.
