Peter Merrifield, a British man of Caribbean Heritage from Hackney in East London, is the founder and CEO of Support When It Matters. His successful career as a building control surveyor overseeing residential and commercial development derailed in his 30s when a period of depression led to self-medication with illicit substances, homelessness, and involvement with the criminal justice system. The care he received during this challenging period not only turned his life around, but it also planted the seeds for what would become Support When It Matters.
Get ready to be inspired! Our conversation with Peter was nothing short of amazing. He took us on a remarkable journey through his life, sharing his incredible recovery story that's motivated and helped so many. We're still buzzing from the conversation - it's a great listen!
The aim of Black & Sober - The Podcast is to share and connect with people from a drinking culture, especially those from the black community who have chosen to go against the grain and enjoy life without alcohol!
