    In this episode we raise the necessity of a consensus on the definition for smart grid, considering its incremental and evolutional nature. Several definitions of Smart Grid are presented then, according to standards and institutional organizations, as well as the well-known textbooks, followed by a chronological trend analysis of the term “smart grid" in scientific databases. The incremental and evolutional nature of energy transition is investigated in smart grid paradigm. Subsequently, an Argumentation Theory approach is applied as a discourse analysis on a PowerGlobe IEEE PES forum discussion initiated by Professor P. F. Ribeiro, including a structural analysis, followed by a semantic analysis to extract the dynamism and the concept of the discussion.

    The rapid evolution of technology has transformed traditional infrastructures into smart interconnected systems of systems. Domains such as smart grids, smart homes, smart cities, smart transportation (mobility) and smart agriculture/gardening have emerged as cornerstones of modern innovation, addressing critical challenges like energy efficiency, urbanization, and environmental sustainability. These systems, which we generally name as "Smart Xs", represent the two megatrends of the 21st century: integration and decentralization. However, the lack of an umbrella term to collectively unify these interconnected domains highlights the need for a holistic framework. This paper introduces the concept called "Energy Smart Environment", as an umbrella term to cover all the Smart Xs, to explore the convergence of ambient intelligence, smart environments, and self-powered systems through energy harvesting, from the energy point of view. The “Energy Smart Environment” framework aims to bridge the gap between the "Smart X”s, thus provides a unified holistic approach to study and teach sustainable smart system of systems as a subject matter for undergraduate and graduate students.

    تحول سریع فناوری، زیرساخت‌های سنتی را به سیستم از سیستم‌های هوشمند و به‌هم‌پیوسته دگرگون ساخته است. حوزه‌هایی نظیر شبکه‌های هوشمند (برق)، خانه‌های هوشمند، شهرهای هوشمند، حمل‌ونقل هوشمند (جابجایی) و کشاورزی/باغداری هوشمند به عنوان سنگ بنای نوآوری مدرن ظهور کرده‌اند و به چالش‌های حیاتی مانند بهره‌وری انرژی، گسترش شهرنشینی و پایداری زیست‌محیطی می‌پردازند. این سیستم‌ها، که عموماً آن‌ها را Xهای هوشمند (Smart Xs) می‌نامیم، نمایانگر دو ابرروند قرن بیست و یکم هستند: یکپارچگی و تمرکززدایی.

    این حال، فقدان یک واژه فراگیر برای یکپارچه‌سازی جمعیِ این حوزه‌های به‌هم‌پیوسته،

    نیاز به یک چارچوب جامع‌نگر (کل‌نگر) را برجسته می‌سازد. این مقاله مفهوم محیط

    هوشمند انرژی (Energy Smart Environment) را به عنوان یک واژه فراگیر برای پوشش دادن تمامیX های هوشمند معرفی می‌کند تا

    همگراییِ هوش محیطی، محیط‌های هوشمند و سیستم‌های خودتامین(از طریق دروگری انرژی)

    را از منظر انرژی مورد بررسی قرار دهد.

    «محیط هوشمند انرژی» در پی پر کردن شکاف میانX های هوشمند است و بدین ترتیب،

    رویکردی یکپارچه و جامع‌نگر برای مطالعه و آموزش سیستم از سیستم‌های هوشمندِ

    پایدار، به عنوان یک موضوع درسی برای دانشجویان مقاطع کارشناسی و تحصیلات تکمیلی،
