• Ep. 382: Turning Points In History
    2026/07/05
SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 382, “Turning Points in History,” Kim discusses how turning points in history affect us, whether they be personal turning points or those of nations. In today’s text, we see a turning point in the history of the nation of Israel: the fall of Jerusalem. God had consistently sent His prophets, especially Jeremiah, to warn the people of the consequences they would experience for their sinful lifestyles, but they refused to heed the warnings. May we learn from their bad choices, as well as our own turning points, and live lives wholly surrendered to the Lord. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 25:1-21 and 2 Chronicles 36:17-21, with 2 Chronicles 36:17-21 as the focal verses: 17 So the Lord brought the king of Babylon against them. The Babylonians killed Judah’s young men, even chasing after them into the Temple. They had no pity on the people, killing both young men and young women, the old and the infirm. God handed all of them over to Nebuchadnezzar. 18 The king took home to Babylon all the articles, large and small, used in the Temple of God, and the treasures from both the Lord’s Temple and from the palace of the king and his officials. 19 Then his army burned the Temple of God, tore down the walls of Jerusalem, burned all the palaces, and completely destroyed everything of value. 20 The few who survived were taken as exiles to Babylon, and they became servants to the king and his sons until the kingdom of Persia came to power. 21 So the message of the Lord spoken through Jeremiah was fulfilled. The land finally enjoyed its Sabbath rest, lying desolate until the seventy years were fulfilled, just as the prophet had said. WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: Identify the turning points of your life. • Ep. 384: After the Call, the Confirmation
    2026/07/19
SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 384, “After the Call, the Confirmation,” Kim discusses the confirmation of his call the prophet Jeremiah received. God was so gracious to encourage young Jeremiah by beginning to show him what ministry would look like and letting him know that there would be challenges, but the Lord would handle them for him. Our focal passage for this episode is Jeremiah 1:12-19, with 18-19 as the focal verses: 18 For see, today I have made you strong like a fortified city that cannot be captured, like an iron pillar or a bronze wall. You will stand against the whole land— the kings, officials, priests, and people of Judah. 19 They will fight you, but they will fail. For I am with you, and I will take care of you. I, the Lord, have spoken!” WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: How did the Lord confirm the call on your life? If you are unsure, please speak with the Lord about what He is calling you to do. 2026/07/26
SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 385, “Quit Wasting Your Time Looking for Cheap Substitutes,” Kim discusses the strong word picture the Lord painted through the words of Jeremiah. God accused the people of Israel of two sins: (1) abandoning the Lord—the fountain of living water; (2) instead digging cracked cisterns that couldn’t hold water. This picture applies to Christ-followers today just as it did for the Israelites. Our focal passage for this episode is Jeremiah 2:1-13, with 13 as the focal verse: 13 “For my people have done two evil things: They have abandoned me— the fountain of living water. 2026/08/09
SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 387, “When Will You Stop Running?” Kim discusses the vivid imagery in Jeremiah 2 that describes the Israelites' unfaithfulness. The Lord asked them: “When will you stop running? When will you stop panting after other gods?” Good questions for us to answer today, don’t you think? Our focal passage for this episode is Jeremiah 2:23-37, with 23-25 as the focal verses: 23 “You say, ‘That’s not true! I haven’t worshiped the images of Baal!’ But how can you say that? Go and look in any valley in the land! Face the awful sins you have done. You are like a restless female camel desperately searching for a mate. 24 You are like a wild donkey, sniffing the wind at mating time. Who can restrain her lust? Those who desire her don’t need to search, for she goes running to them! 25 When will you stop running? When will you stop panting after other gods? But you say, ‘Save your breath. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 388, “Come Home to Me Again,” Kim discusses our merciful God and His call to His prodigals to "come home." In today's scripture, the Lord, through Jeremiah, reaches out to the Northern Kingdom. Just as He gave them chance after chance, He also speaks to His modern-day prodigals, encouraging them to "come home." Our focal passage for this episode is Jeremiah 3:1-20, with 12-13 as the focal verses: 12 Therefore, go and give this message to Israel. This is what the Lord says: “O Israel, my faithless people, come home to me again, for I am merciful. I will not be angry with you forever. 13 Only acknowledge your guilt. Admit that you rebelled against the Lord your God and committed adultery against him by worshiping idols under every green tree. Confess that you refused to listen to my voice. • Ep. 389: Plow Up the Hard Ground of Your Hearts!
    2026/08/23
SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 389, “Plow Up the Hard Ground of Your Hearts!” Kim discusses the word picture in Jeremiah 4 of the hard soil and the thorns. Whether our heart has a fully hard soil area or a hard area of ground, the Lord calls on us to “Plow up the hard ground of [our] hearts!” Even if our heart soil isn’t stone hard, that does not mean that we do not have some thorns that are choking out some of our growth and spiritual fruit. Our focal passage for this episode is Jeremiah 4:1-4, with 3-4 as the focal verses: 3 This is what the Lord says to the people of Judah and Jerusalem: “Plow up the hard ground of your hearts! Do not waste your good seed among thorns. 4 O people of Judah and Jerusalem, surrender your pride and power. Change your hearts before the Lord, or my anger will burn like an unquenchable fire because of all your sins. WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: Bravely ask the Lord: “What do You want to change in me through this?” PRAYER: Lord, break up the hard ground of my heart. Pull out anything that is choking the work You want to do in me. Make my heart soft toward Your voice and ready to receive Your Word. Show me what needs to change, and give me the courage to obey You. Amen.
