Today’s scripture lessons are Isaiah 25:1–9 and Matthew 22:1–14.

In today’s lessons and sermon, we hear Jesus challenge the religious leaders to consider the difference between merely saying the right things and faithfully doing the will of God. In Philippians, Paul calls the church to “let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus”—a mind marked by humility, service, and concern for others.

The sermon reflects on what it means to remember both who we are and whose we are. Following Christ is not simply about obedience; it is a lifelong process of allowing the Holy Spirit to shape us into people who look beyond ourselves, recognize the needs of others, and discover that a life of service is ultimately a path toward wholeness, meaning, and joy.

Today’s lessons invite us to consider the difference between complaining and living with gratitude. Through Israel’s journey in the wilderness and Jesus’ parable of the workers in the vineyard, we are reminded that God’s grace is generous and abundant—not something to be measured against what others receive. The message challenges us to recognize God’s blessings, give thanks, and respond by becoming faithful workers in God’s vineyard.

This week’s message from Matthew 18 invites us to think about one of the hardest parts of Christian life: forgiveness. Through Jesus’ parable of the unforgiving servant, we are reminded just how freely God extends mercy to us—and how deeply we are called to extend that same grace to others. Using the image of choosing between a “wand of blessing” and a “wand of bitterness,” the sermon encourages us to let go of old grudges, pray for those who have hurt us, and choose forgiveness from the heart.

In Matthew 18:15–20, Jesus gives us a clear pattern for responding to disagreement. Rather than talking about someone behind their back or gathering others to our side, we are called first to go directly to the person involved and speak with them privately. Pastor John reminds us that these conversations should begin gently, with humility and curiosity, recognizing that we may have misunderstood the situation—or may even discover that we ourselves were mistaken.

When a private conversation does not resolve the conflict, Jesus teaches us to involve one or two trusted people who can help both sides listen, understand, and seek reconciliation. Even then, agreement is not always possible. The goal is not necessarily to make everyone think alike, but to seek understanding and avoid allowing disagreement to grow into division.

Pastor John also challenges the common assumption that Jesus’ instruction to treat someone “as a Gentile and a tax collector” means rejecting or shunning them. Instead, we should look at how Jesus himself treated outsiders and tax collectors: with compassion, openness, grace, and an invitation into relationship.

The message calls us to love one another even through disagreement. We may not always be able to remove every barrier between us, but through the grace of God we can continue reaching across those barriers with kindness, gentleness, and love.

Pastor John’s message, based on Psalm 107:1–9, centers on the call, “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.” He encourages Christians to speak openly about what God has done in their lives, emphasizing that no theological expertise is required because each person is simply sharing their own experience of God’s grace.

He offers three reasons for telling our stories of faith. First, it is the right response to God’s goodness—an act of praise, gratitude, and obedience. Second, our stories can encourage others who are struggling. Using the image of the “sin of the desert,” he explains that a person who finds water in the desert should not keep it to themselves while others remain thirsty; likewise, those who have experienced God’s help should share that hope with others. Third, putting our experiences into words helps us recognize and remember more clearly what God has done. Until we articulate those experiences, they can remain vague and easily forgotten.

The message concludes with a simple challenge: Think about something God has done in your life—and then consider whom you can tell about it.

In today’s lesson from Matthew 16:13–20, Jesus asks his disciples the defining question, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter responds, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” The sermon explores not only who Jesus is to us, but also who Jesus says we are. Through Peter—imperfect, impulsive, yet called “the rock”—we are reminded that God sees beyond our failures to the people we are becoming. We are encouraged to persist in prayer, trust God’s grace, and ask: “Lord, how do you see me, and who are you calling me to be?”

Welcome to today’s episode, where we reflect on the powerful story of Jesus feeding the five thousand—a miracle born in the middle of grief, compassion, and need. This sermon begins with the difficult news Jesus received: the death of John the Baptist. In response, Jesus withdraws to a quiet place to pray, reminding us of the deep need for time alone with God, especially in seasons of sorrow.

But when the crowds follow Him, Jesus does not turn them away. Instead, He has compassion, heals the sick, and challenges His disciples with the words, “You give them something to eat.” With only five loaves and two fish, the disciples discover that what seems impossibly small in human hands becomes more than enough when placed in the hands of Christ.

This message invites us to consider the difference between guilt and true repentance, the courage of faithful obedience like John the Baptist, and the call to trust God with our limited resources. It reminds us that God equips those He calls, provides in unexpected ways, and often asks us to participate in meeting the needs around us.

So as you listen, be encouraged: when life feels both bitter and sweet, when your strength feels small, and when the need feels too great, bring what you have to Jesus—and watch what He can do.
