Eat The Pudding: A Simpsons Podcast

    Episode 15: “Skinnerrrr!!!”

Welcome to the Eat The Pudding fan podcast, where Michael and Ian explore the Simpsons universe in all its colourful and cromulent forms. This is the fourteenth episode: “Skinnerrrr!!!”.

Continuing our Season Eight highlights, we look at Homer’s Phobia, an Emmy-winning episode that was years ahead of its time in its treatment of casual homophobia. Here, we cast an eye over the filmmaking career of guest star John Waters and zone in on all the little details that help make this one of the most fun Simpsons episodes ever. Zzzappp!

This week’s Spotlight On Springfield features Superintendent Chalmers – a man known to his mother as Gary and to Ralf Wiggum as Super Nintendo Chalmers. We look at his tense, uneasy relationship with Principal Skinner and explore the theory that, like the hapless Frank Grimes, Chalmers has one foot in the real world and one foot in the chaos that is Springfield.

Episode 14: “And I, For One, Welcome Our New Insect Overlords”

Welcome to the Eat The Pudding fan podcast, where Michael and Ian explore the Simpsons universe in all its colourful and cromulent forms. This is the fourteenth episode: “And I, For One, Welcome Our New Insect Overlords”.

“Pompous, blow-dried college boy” Kent Brockman is the focus of this episode’s Spotlight On Springfield. We cast a world-weary eye on the real-life anchormen on whom the character was based and revisit our favourite Brockman moments throughout the classic years of the series.

We also kick off our Season Eight highlights with Michael’s first pick, You Only Move Twice, in which the Simpsons leave Springfield for the idyllic surroundings of Cypress Creek so that Homer can take a step up on his dusty career ladder. Unfortunately, his magnanimous new boss has a dark side that includes designs on world domination …

  • "Did It Just Get Fatter In Here?"
    2026/08/03
Eat The Pudding: A Simpsons Podcast Episode 13: “Did It Just Get Fatter In Here?” Welcome to the Eat The Pudding fan podcast, where Michael and Ian explore the Simpsons universe in all its colourful and cromulent forms. This is the thirteenth episode: “Did It Just Get Fatter In Here?”. This episode’s Spotlight On Springfield is on Patty and Selma, Marge’s chain-smoking, gravel-voiced elder sisters. We discuss the subtle differences between the twin Gorgons and trace the history of their failed romantic attachments and their successful hate-hate relationship with brother-in-law Homer. Meanwhile, the semi-regular Songs Of Springfield segment sees us donning our skimpiest outfits in honour of the barnstorming number at the end of the Season 8 moral conundrum that is Bart After Dark. Like the Monorail Song before it, this jaunty tune makes excellent use of a whole stable of different Simpsons characters, all of whom have gathered in the grounds of the scurrilous Maison Derriere. Oh, won’t somebody PLEASE think of the children?!
