In November 2023, Chief Warrant Officer (Ret'd) Necole Belanger published her memoir titled Pride Amid Prejudice. In this raw account of her life, Necole exposes the reality of being a member of the 2SLGBTQI while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces. At times she wondered which was the greater sin, being a lesbian or being a woman. In addition to the abuse and injustices she experienced in an organization that failed to return her loyalty, Necole also suffered at the hands of her father.
Recently retired, Necole is on a healing journey and this journey includes forgiveness and letting go. The most difficult, says Necole, is forgiving those closest to us.
