A respected doctor becomes a deadly predator in this shocking true crime case that exposes the darkest side of the opioid epidemic.

When young Ellie Harris died of an overdose in 2002, her prescription bottles all led back to one man: Dr. Randeep Mann. Despite her history of addiction that her family explicitly shared with him, Mann prescribed dangerous combinations of opioids that ultimately claimed her life. But Ellie was just the beginning.

As more bodies piled up in the small town of Russellville, Arkansas, a disturbing pattern emerged. Dr. Mann wasn't just overprescribing - he was exploiting vulnerable patients like teenager Shelly Green, who reported trading sexual favors for pills in his office after hours. Despite mounting evidence, medical and legal systems repeatedly failed to stop him, with overdose deaths temporarily dropping when his license was suspended only to surge again when reinstated.

What does it take to stop a predator in a white coat when the very systems designed to protect patients repeatedly fail to act? Join us for this disturbing journey through medicine's darkest corridors.

The wellness industry is filled with charismatic figures promising natural cures and easy fixes, but what happens when these health gurus practice what they preach? Gary Null found out the hard way when his own supplement nearly killed him.

This episode examines how Null's story reveals a broken system where supplement manufacturers operate with minimal oversight, and charismatic figures can build fortunes selling both fear and supposed solutions. We'll explore why his pseudoscientific claims persist despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary and provide resources for evaluating supplement safety.

  • Ep 16-The Dental Affair: Rage, Betrayal, and Murder
    2025/05/14

    Send us a text

When Clara Suarez left Colombia for America, she carried her late father's dream of building a better life. Through sheer determination, she conquered dental school twice—once in her homeland and again in the United States—eventually establishing a thriving practice in Houston. Her perfect smile caught the eye of orthodontist David Harris, and their Valentine's Day wedding seemed to seal her fairy tale transformation from impoverished immigrant to successful professional.

Together, they built what appeared to be the perfect life—a dental empire spanning six practices, twin sons, and a beautiful home in an upscale suburb. Behind Clara's achievements lay a perfectionist drive born from childhood loss, a relentless pursuit of excellence that never quite filled the void left by her father's absence.

The facade cracked in 2002 when Clara discovered David's affair with his receptionist. Her response revealed the dangerous undercurrent of obsessive perfectionism that had always driven her success. She hired a personal trainer, planned cosmetic surgery, and even abandoned her hard-won dental career to focus exclusively on saving her marriage.

When these desperate measures failed, something snapped. On a July evening outside the very hotel where they'd celebrated their wedding reception, Clara made a split-second decision that destroyed everything she'd built. With her teenage stepdaughter in the passenger seat witnessing the horror, she circled the parking lot three times before deliberately running over David with her Mercedes-Benz.

The murder trial exposed the raw wounds of betrayal and rage that had festered beneath the polished surface of their marriage. Though convicted and sentenced to twenty years, Clara served fifteen before her 2018 parole. Her case stands as a chilling reminder of how quickly unchecked emotions can unravel even the most carefully constructed lives.

What drives someone to destroy everything they've worked for in a moment of passion? Listen now to explore the psychological forces behind this tragic true crime that shocked Texas and the nation.

  • Ep 15-The Sound of Violence: An AuD Killer
    2025/05/07

    Send us a text

What happens when THC levels reach 95%? A young audiologist's world shattered after just two hits from a marijuana bong sent her into a violent psychosis that left her boyfriend dead with 108 stab wounds.

When police responded to a domestic disturbance call in Thousand Oaks, California, they discovered a scene straight from a nightmare – a bloody body on the floor, a woman stabbing herself repeatedly in the neck, and eight officers unable to subdue her even after multiple taser deployments. The woman was Bryn Spejcher, a 27-year-old audiologist who had been living what many would consider an ordinary life just hours before.

Experts revealed how modern cannabis bears little resemblance to the relatively mild marijuana of decades past. With THC concentrations soaring from 3-4% in the 1970s to potentially 40% or higher today, users face risks that many don't comprehend until it's too late. Cannabis-induced psychosis – a condition where marijuana triggers severe hallucinations, delusions, and complete disconnection from reality – can happen to anyone given a high enough dose, regardless of prior mental health.

The case illuminates a troubling intersection of recreational drug use, mental health, and legal accountability. While Spejcher was ultimately convicted of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to probation rather than prison, the incident transformed multiple lives forever. Chad O'Melia's family lost a beloved son, while Spejcher lost her career and now lives with the knowledge of what happened during her psychotic break. Perhaps most disturbing is the revelation that up to half of those who experience cannabis-induced psychosis may later develop chronic psychotic disorders, raising urgent questions about marijuana regulation in an era of expanding legalization.

Have you or someone you know experienced unexpected reactions to cannabis? Share your thoughts and follow us for more eye-opening explorations of medical cases that challenge our understanding of mind, body, and responsibility.

  • Ep 14- Death by Dilution: The Shocking Case of a Cancer Drug Swindler
    2025/04/30

    Send us a text

Trust is the foundation of medicine. When we're at our most vulnerable, we place our lives in the hands of doctors, nurses, technicians, and pharmacists—believing they'll do everything in their power to help us heal. But what happens when that sacred trust is betrayed on a scale so massive it defies comprehension?

This is the story of Robert Courtney, a respected Kansas City pharmacist whose actions shattered the lives of thousands. Over nine years, Courtney systematically diluted nearly 100,000 doses of chemotherapy and other critical medications for over 4,200 patients. These weren't minor adjustments—many contained less than 30% of the prescribed medication, and some contained none at all. While cancer patients fought for their lives, receiving what they believed was life-saving treatment, Courtney was secretly replacing their medicine with saline solution and pocketing millions.

The case broke when Dr. Verda Hicks, a brilliant gynecologic oncologist with 30 years of experience, noticed something strange: her patients weren't experiencing the typical side effects of chemotherapy. No hair loss, minimal nausea. Working with a pharmaceutical representative who noticed billing discrepancies, Dr. Hicks ordered tests on medications from Courtney's pharmacy, uncovering the horrifying truth. She immediately reported her findings to the FBI, kickstarting an investigation aptly named "Diluted Trust." Through a carefully orchestrated sting operation, agents caught Courtney red-handed, delivering IV bags with his initials that contained only a fraction of the prescribed medication—and one with no medication at all.

The human toll is immeasurable. Georgia Hayes, who became the face of patients harmed by Courtney, received 27 doses of diluted chemotherapy. Experts testified she had missed her optimal window to beat cancer. Countless families were left wondering: Could my loved one have survived with proper treatment? Was their suffering prolonged? Did they die sooner than necessary?

Despite being sentenced to 30 years in federal prison in 2002, Courtney was released to home confinement in August 2024 through credits earned via the First Step Act—a decision that has reignited outrage among victims' families who continue pushing for murder charges. As one family member asked, "What is the difference between withholding life-saving medication and shooting someone with a gun?"

Have you ever wondered how far someone might go for profit? How vulnerable we truly are when seeking medical care? Join us as we examine this case that continues to raise profound questions about trust, justice, and the value of human life.

  • Ep 13-Donated to Science, Sold for Profit: America's Body Trade
    2025/04/23

    Send us a text

Beneath the noble veneer of "donating your body to science" lies a disturbing truth—an entirely unregulated industry where human remains are bought, sold, and shipped like commodities. This episode pulls back the curtain on America's body broker industry, revealing how donated bodies often end up dismembered, sold for profit, and used in ways donors never imagined or consented to.

From historical grave robbers like Burke and Hare who murdered for medical specimens, to modern-day scandals at prestigious institutions like Harvard Medical School, we trace the evolution of this shadowy trade. You'll discover why it's currently more regulated to sell a hot dog on a street corner than to traffic in human remains, and how a single donated body can generate up to $100,000 when sold piece by piece.

We share shocking case studies: a Colorado funeral home that secretly sold bodies while returning fake ashes to grieving families; a respected ENT doctor shipping human heads via commercial carriers; and an organized network that treats human remains like fast-food inventory. Most disturbingly, we reveal how these operations are largely legal due to massive regulatory gaps that have persisted for decades.

The consequences are profound—not just for the dignity of the deceased, but for grieving families who discover their loved ones' remains were treated as merchandise instead of contributing to medical advancement. As one industry insider admitted, "If you can print a shipping label, you can move a human head."

Ready to protect yourself and your loved ones? Listen to discover what reforms experts recommend and the critical questions to ask if you're considering body donation. Share this episode to help expose a system that desperately needs transparency and accountability.

  • Ep 12-Dr. Hazzard's Hunger Games
    2025/04/16

    Send us a text

The rise and deadly reign of Linda Burfield Hazard stands as one of the most disturbing chapters in American medical history. Without formal training, this self-proclaimed "fasting specialist" established a sanitarium in rural Washington State where dozens of wealthy patients would meet their demise—all while enriching herself with their fortunes.

From her first documented victim in 1902 to her eventual conviction a decade later, Hazard perfected a sinister formula: convince vulnerable, health-seeking individuals that their ailments stemmed from "impure blood" and "impaired digestion," then subject them to extreme fasting regimens where they received only small amounts of vegetable broth twice daily. As patients weakened physically and mentally from starvation, Hazard administered painful enemas and brutal massage sessions where she beat patients with her fists. This systematic torture served a calculated purpose—to render victims compliant enough to sign over guardianship of their estates, rewrite wills in her favor, and surrender jewelry and heirlooms.

The tragic story of British heiresses Claire and Dora Williamson crystallizes Hazard's predatory pattern. These wealthy sisters sought treatment after reading Hazard's book, only to be imprisoned at what locals had nicknamed "Starvation Heights." Claire died weighing a fraction of her healthy weight, while Dora was rescued by their former governess Margaret Conway—but only after Hazard extracted thousands of dollars in "medical fees." The subsequent investigation revealed forged documents, stolen possessions, and a pattern of financial exploitation that accompanied each death.

Despite her 1912 conviction for manslaughter, Hazard served less than three years before receiving a pardon. Most disturbingly, she continued practicing for decades afterward, claiming more victims until her own death in 1938—ironically, while attempting to cure herself through fasting. Her legacy serves as a chilling reminder of how charismatic individuals can weaponize medical authority to devastating effect, particularly when systems fail to protect the vulnerable from those who wear the mask of healer while harboring the heart of a predator.
