I used to drool at the thought of becoming a professional philanthropist.

I pictured myself donating my time, wads of money, energy funding women's businesses and ecological projects all around the world.

That image in my head felt like the peak experience, like if I could achieve that it would mean I'd arrived.

But when I started studying matriarchal economics and specifically wealth distribution models, I had to rethink some things.

Because philanthropy is the dominant model of redistribution inside the current economy and it is structurally designed to leave the power differential intact.

In this podcast episode I dive into the four categories of redistribution that get collapsed under philanthropy, and each one's role in moving us from the control of the triangle (where power is concentrated at the top) to circle (where power is distributed through relationships).

"He refuses to sit down with anyone other than his advisor."

Meanwhile, women are burning out under carrying the load of what they can't name as abuse because it doesn't fit the textbook definition.

I'm talking about the structural, consistent, normalized assumptive generosity of a woman who moves money through community.

And internalized scarcity is what stops generosity cold.

It doesn't matter how aligned your values are.

It doesn't matter how much you believe in the matriarchal economy.

If your internal ecosystem is running a scarcity program underneath all of that belief, you won't circulate consistently.

You will hoard in ways that feel like a responsible choice.

You will give sporadically, not necessarily from guilt but maybe sometimes, and then contract.

You will keep waiting for when you have more to begin giving consistently.

Dissolving internalized scarcity is the real work at the foundation of a matriarchal economy.
