  • On Functional Nutrition with Nour El Nahlawy
    2021/04/14

In this episode, we talk to functional nutritionist and health coach Nour El Nahlawy about functional medicine, the role of food and our agency as patients in our own healing journey. We also talk about the most common aids and obstacles to healing she's observed in her practice. We talk about her own journey from being a pharmacist to a functional nutritionist, and much much more...

Nour El Nahlawy is a pharmacist, a health coach, and a mom. She graduated from The Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, Egypt.  She studied holistic nutrition at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), New York, USA. She believes that medications only treat the symptoms and do not tackle the root cause of diseases. Nour helps people to adopt a healthier lifestyle through listening to their bodies and to make the right dietary choices that suit their needs, and because each body behaves differently, one person's food is another person's poison so making the right choices really matter. She combines the expertise of the medical field with the experience of lifestyle modifications through health coaching. She helps women who struggle with hormonal problems (like PCOS, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and insulin resistance) and digestive problems (like IBS) which usually accompany many of the hormonal problems. By working with Nour, you will address your nutritional needs, exercise habits, career goals, relationships, spirituality, and many more issues that are specific to your unique body. This is a holistic approach.

  • On Existential Psychotherapy with Farah el Miligui
    2021/03/23

In this episode, we talk about what existential psychotherapy is. We delve into the importance of claiming responsibility for one's life and self and recognising our freedom in all of it. We talk about love, the fear of love, and why love may be challenging for the quarter lives. And much much more...

Farah el Miligui is a doctoral candidate of counselling psychology based in London. Her clinical experience spans cultures, age groups and settings. Her passion for philosophy and existential therapy started when she was introduced to existentialism in one of her undergraduate courses on the psychology of dreams. Her research is centred around social anxiety in the ‘information age’. She believes that life will inevitably present individuals with suffering and sees symptoms as manifestations of ‘problems with living’ instead of diagnoses. Some of the thinkers who have influenced her within clinical work are Albert Camus, Soren Kierkegaard and Rollo May. She is particularly drawn to the work of Irvin Yalom and Emmy Van Deurzen. Farah has a passion for cross-cultural work and is eager to bridge the research divide within psychology beyond the Western scientist-practitioner model.
