このコンテンツについて
Around the DC universe, Batman aficionados have another treat on the horizon. Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom are launching Immortal Legend Batman, a far-future cosmic Elseworlds series with Gotham reimagined as an entire world. Character designs from Dan Mora and bold experimentation in format suggest this could become one of the year’s most ambitious Bat-projects. Fans should also mark their calendars for Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez’s Batman #1 in September, plus Absolute Batman Annual #1 hitting in late October.
The Marvel universe is surging with equally seismic developments. The Ultimate Universe, recently revived to great acclaim, is now barreling toward its largest event yet: Ultimate Endgame. Teased as the “most impactful crossover” yet, this five-issue miniseries reunites all the major Ultimate characters as the villainous Maker breaks his two-year imprisonment, promising major consequences that could forever reshape Marvel’s freshest reality. For those following the day-to-day adventures, Ultimate Spider-Man is heading for its final issue, closing the curtain on this landmark title while opening the door to even grander stories.
In other Marvel corners, anticipation is simmering for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. Robert Downey Jr. will portray Doctor Doom, but the most recent buzz at Comic-Con is that the script still isn’t finished even three months into production—a typical but eyebrow-raising Marvel Studios tradition that’s making headlines.
Animation and streaming news abounds as well. Invincible’s fourth season revealed its newest villain, Dinosaurus, voiced by Matthew Rhys. Amazon’s The Boys and its spinoff Gen V shared explosive new trailers, with Gen V promising character crossovers and a September 17 release date. Over on Disney+, Percy Jackson and the Olympians confirmed a December 10 premiere for season two, while an all-star animated Mighty Nein series has a November launch.
Collectors and readers have plenty to look forward to this Wednesday as well, with new issues arriving for Ultimate Spider-Man and Nightwing. And, as always, SDCC spotlighted creators: Jackie Estrada, who ran the Eisner Awards for decades, received a standing ovation as she announced her retirement—a reminder of the legacy behind every headline.
It’s been a week to remember, full of fresh adventures for comic icons old and new, with the lines between universes and genres blurrier—and more exciting—than ever.
