  • DawgmanRadio: Huskies Have Fun, Stay Healthy During 'Dawgs After Dark'
    2026/05/02
Buoyed by some stellar defensive play, the Purple Team beat Team Gold 27-10 in the annual 'Dawgs After Dark' Spring Game at Husky Stadium Friday night. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - were on hand to check everything out and talk about the stars of the night, as well as talk about some of the players we didn't get to see as much of. And there was also talk about the format of the game, how the team was split up via a draft so it wasn't best on best, twos on twos, etc... and whether or not other teams would get anything out of it while scouting them as opponents. Scott offered up a quick recruiting update on the players that were seen there, as well as what the UW coaches have on their plates as they enter a very busy May evaluation period where they can hit the road on search of more 2027 recruits for their class, as well as lay the groundwork with future classes. And then the guys offer up their final thoughts on the game, on spring in general, and what the Huskies have to do in the offseason this summer to really hit the ground running when August training camp arrives. • DawgmanRadio: Tuesday's practice the perfect ramp-up to 'Dawgs After Dark'
    2026/04/29
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - spent Tuesday night dissecting what the could from the two-and-a-half practice they just saw out on the east field next to Husky Stadium. But they also spent a fair part of it talking about the individual play of certain Washington players that have taken advantage of opportunities in the absence of others. Some examples include WR Deji Ajose, EDGE Ramzak Fruean, CB/Nickel Ramonz Adams Jr., and RB Ansu Sanoe. Scott also offered up some thoughts on Washington's newest 2027 commit, Glacier Peak TE Zach Albright, and also talked about some of the prospects that are expected to be at Husky Stadium this coming Friday night. And the guys finished up the podcast talking about a number of players on both sides of the ball that Washington fans should be looking out for during Friday night's spring game. Last year had roughly 20,000 UW fans out in attendance, and I know they're trying hard to top that number this year. • DawgmanRadio: Saturday's scrimmage set the table nicely for 'Dawgs After Dark'
    2026/04/25
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - had to find a spot to record while the UCLA-UW Softball game was going on behind them to offer up their thoughts on today's final scrimmage before 'Dawgs After Dark', as well as update UW fans on the players that got drafted today. And as it fortuitously worked out for us, Zach Durfee was taken as the 7th Husky in the 7th round just moments before we were set to wrap up the podcast, so we were able to give our thoughts on that news too. To start, we talked about the general tone of the scrimmage, which went 130 plays according to UW Head Coach Jedd Fisch. We talked about the gulf in class between Demond Williams and the rest of the quarterbacks room. We talked about the running backs that continue to get turns and how that room will invariably change once Jayden Limar and Trey Cooley are cleared to play. We talked about how good it was to see Ohio State transfer Bodpegn Miller get some snaps during the scrimmage and also how some of the lesser-known pass-catchers, like Charlie Crowell, started to get some production. We talked about interceptions by Kayden Greene and freshman safety Gavin Day highlighting the play the defense. We talked about the battle in the trenches, how it's been a blessing that no one has really gotten injured in there so far this spring, and how the rooms will definitely improve, especially when the DL gets former Mississippi State standout freshman Kai McClendon back. But mostly it was about how the defense is still a ways ahead of the offense, and also how the competition level has continued to rise and rise, leading to more scuffles and how the competition has pressurized things to where there's more breakdowns - like poor snaps, penalties, and the like. Scott offered up a quick recruiting update, as there were a few prospects there today but UW is really gearing up their recruiting efforts to coincide with Dawgs After Dark. And then Zach Durfee was picked by Jacksonville shortly before we closed out the show.
