• DawgmanRadio: Dissecting the offensive side of the ball after spring football
    2026/05/15
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds and Chris Fetters - got together this week to break down what they saw from the offensive side of the ball during spring football. Over the course of 14 practices and a spring game, there was a ton to talk about, as well as any questions left unanswered depending on who was available and who wasn't. Starting with the quarterbacks and working their way down the order position-by-position, Kim and Chris break down their observations with one eye on spring ball and also with one eye focused on what it all means as the team heads toward the offseason and into training camp in August. And so many questions to answer... Who were the standouts? Who took big strides during April? Who took advantage of their opportunities? Who needed to show more? How big was not having Jayden Limar and Trey Cooley when talking about the UW running backs? How big was not having Christian Moss to the overall outlook for the Husky receivers? And how much did not having the Hatchett brothers and Kolt Dieterich affect how the offensive line performed? • DawgmanRadio: Huskies Have Fun, Stay Healthy During 'Dawgs After Dark'
    2026/05/02
Buoyed by some stellar defensive play, the Purple Team beat Team Gold 27-10 in the annual 'Dawgs After Dark' Spring Game at Husky Stadium Friday night. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - were on hand to check everything out and talk about the stars of the night, as well as talk about some of the players we didn't get to see as much of. And there was also talk about the format of the game, how the team was split up via a draft so it wasn't best on best, twos on twos, etc... and whether or not other teams would get anything out of it while scouting them as opponents. Scott offered up a quick recruiting update on the players that were seen there, as well as what the UW coaches have on their plates as they enter a very busy May evaluation period where they can hit the road on search of more 2027 recruits for their class, as well as lay the groundwork with future classes. And then the guys offer up their final thoughts on the game, on spring in general, and what the Huskies have to do in the offseason this summer to really hit the ground running when August training camp arrives. • DawgmanRadio: Tuesday's practice the perfect ramp-up to 'Dawgs After Dark'
    2026/04/29
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - spent Tuesday night dissecting what the could from the two-and-a-half practice they just saw out on the east field next to Husky Stadium. But they also spent a fair part of it talking about the individual play of certain Washington players that have taken advantage of opportunities in the absence of others. Some examples include WR Deji Ajose, EDGE Ramzak Fruean, CB/Nickel Ramonz Adams Jr., and RB Ansu Sanoe. Scott also offered up some thoughts on Washington's newest 2027 commit, Glacier Peak TE Zach Albright, and also talked about some of the prospects that are expected to be at Husky Stadium this coming Friday night. And the guys finished up the podcast talking about a number of players on both sides of the ball that Washington fans should be looking out for during Friday night's spring game. Last year had roughly 20,000 UW fans out in attendance, and I know they're trying hard to top that number this year. • DawgmanRadio: Saturday's scrimmage set the table nicely for 'Dawgs After Dark'
    2026/04/25
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - had to find a spot to record while the UCLA-UW Softball game was going on behind them to offer up their thoughts on today's final scrimmage before 'Dawgs After Dark', as well as update UW fans on the players that got drafted today. And as it fortuitously worked out for us, Zach Durfee was taken as the 7th Husky in the 7th round just moments before we were set to wrap up the podcast, so we were able to give our thoughts on that news too. To start, we talked about the general tone of the scrimmage, which went 130 plays according to UW Head Coach Jedd Fisch. We talked about the gulf in class between Demond Williams and the rest of the quarterbacks room. We talked about the running backs that continue to get turns and how that room will invariably change once Jayden Limar and Trey Cooley are cleared to play. We talked about how good it was to see Ohio State transfer Bodpegn Miller get some snaps during the scrimmage and also how some of the lesser-known pass-catchers, like Charlie Crowell, started to get some production. We talked about interceptions by Kayden Greene and freshman safety Gavin Day highlighting the play the defense. We talked about the battle in the trenches, how it's been a blessing that no one has really gotten injured in there so far this spring, and how the rooms will definitely improve, especially when the DL gets former Mississippi State standout freshman Kai McClendon back. But mostly it was about how the defense is still a ways ahead of the offense, and also how the competition level has continued to rise and rise, leading to more scuffles and how the competition has pressurized things to where there's more breakdowns - like poor snaps, penalties, and the like. Scott offered up a quick recruiting update, as there were a few prospects there today but UW is really gearing up their recruiting efforts to coincide with Dawgs After Dark. And then Zach Durfee was picked by Jacksonville shortly before we closed out the show. • DawgmanRadio: Day 11 a precursor for Saturday's big scrimmage
    2026/04/24
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - were at Husky Stadium Thursday to check out Day 11 of Washington's spring football campaign, and it felt a bit like the calm before the storm. You're getting to the part of camp where guys can start to hit a little bit of a wall, especially the younger players, but in this case the shells and shorts practice felt more like a warmup for what UW fans should expect to see Saturday afternoon during their last big scrimmage before Dawgs After Dark, the following Friday. For one thing, it wasn't a very long practice. It went basically two hours as UW Head Coach Jedd Fisch cut things short right before we expected to see another team period to round things out. That may have been because of the ongoing NFL Draft and players and coaches wanting to watch some of their former teammates potentially get drafted. It might also be because Saturday's scrimmage is expected to be a longer one and get want the available players to be as fresh as possible. The Dawgman guys talked about what they did see today, including some two-minute work for the first time all camp, and also who is standing out among the UW running backs, receivers, and tight ends. Who is getting more open; Dezmen Roebuck, or Decker DeGraaf? They also talked about the physical transformation for some of the younger players, like Ansu Sanoe, Ryken Moon, and others, and Scott offered up a quick recruiting update as a number of important recruits are expected to be at Husky Stadium on Saturday. And they had one big visitor in today. To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. • DawgmanRadio: Plenty to talk about after Day 10 of spring football
    2026/04/22
There was some great competition and the offense starting to get some back against the defense during a cloudy day of work during Day 10 of spring football on the east field next to Husky Stadium. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - got together after practice to break down the things they saw, the players they saw return after not doing as much during the first big scrimmage of spring, held this past Saturday afternoon at Husky Stadium, and also broke down arguably one of the great drills we've watched all spring. And it had nothing to do with offense or defense. We also laid out the rest of the week and how next week is going to go as well, as all of this is eventually going to culminate in UW's 'Dawgs After Dark' on Friday, May 1 at 6:30 pm PT. • DawgmanRadio: Defense shows up big during first major scrimmage of spring
    2026/04/18
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds and Chris Fetters - got together after Washington's ninth spring practice, their first major scrimmage of spring, to talk about what they saw, who stood out, and what might be causing issues for certain positions. And it became clear during the two-hour-plus practice that included well over 100 scrimmage reps that the defense is well ahead of the offense. Why is that? Kim and Chris definitely offer up some opinions on that, and there's certainly reasons on both sides of the ball why that's the case. They also talked about some of their standout performers, as well as who has stepped in and performed in the absence of others that have been held out due to injury. There is likely to be only one more major scrimmage before Dawgs After Dark on May 1st, and that one will be a week from today, so don't hesitate to go to Husky Stadium if you can! • DawgmanRadio: Day 8 of spring ball was a great prelude to Saturday's scrimmage
    2026/04/17
We're at that point in spring football - almost literally the half-way point - where players are kind of done with working on the fundamentals and the details of their position. They want to go hit someone. They're going to get that chance this Saturday at Husky Stadium during UW's first big scrimmage of spring, but before that they had to push through today's practice. And there was a lot to push through as the team participated in well over an hour's worth of 11-11 football to finish the day. And you could also tell tempers were starting to fray just a bit and a lot of the players can't wait to put the full pads back on and really get after it. But just how much will the UW coaches allow during Saturday's scrimmage? That's just one question the guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds and Chris Fetters - talked about after Thursday's practice. Of course they broke down all the major talking points that they saw, like the improvements being made by the offense and the big plays that were also made. But they also talked about the defense, the players that continue to show up, and also the players that are being asked to play more and more snaps due to others being limited - like Logan George in place of EDGE Isaiah Ward. And what else do Kim and Chris expect to see on Saturday? They try and answer that question at the end of today's recap pod.
