Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper that same atonement comes to us again, His true body and blood given for the forgiveness of sins.

When you feel the weight of your own unsteady heart, remember this compassion. He knows you are but flesh, and in Jesus, He has already atoned for everything that flesh has ever done.

This devotion is honest that true repentance cannot be manufactured by willpower or clever phrasing. It has to be worked in the heart by the same God being addressed. That is exactly what Jesus provides. He did not come to accept flattering words as payment for sin. He came to give an honest heart, capable of real repentance and real faith, purchased by His own death and resurrection. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, not earned through convincing words but given freely through His finished work. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper He meets our honest need again, giving His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins.

Examine your own prayers today. If your words do not match your heart, bring that honest gap to Jesus. He turns flattery into faith and empty words into a heart that truly trusts Him.

In this Daily Devotion for August 25, 2026, Pastor David Balla walks through Psalm 78:31-33, a sober warning where God's judgment fell hard, His strongest people struck down, and still, even after witnessing it firsthand, the people did not believe. A hardened heart can absorb wonder and wrath alike and still refuse to trust.

This devotion is honest that no amount of proof can force faith into a heart unwilling to believe. What was needed was a new heart altogether, and that is exactly why Jesus had to come. He gives faith itself as a gift, created and sustained by His Word and Spirit rather than earned through evidence. There we find true grace, forgiveness, and salvation, not manufactured by us but given freely through His finished work. Through His redemption we are welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, and in the Lord's Supper He continues to strengthen that gift of faith, giving His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins.

Do not trust in evidence to save you. Trust in Jesus instead, who gives the very faith this psalm shows people could not produce on their own.
