  • Abiyah Yasharahyalah and Child B
    2025/07/29

In this episode, we explore the heartbreaking case of Abiyah Yasharahyalah—a three-year-old boy who died of starvation and was secretly buried by his parents, members of an obscure religious group. His younger brother, known publicly as Child B, was later removed from the same household. Through court documents, safeguarding reviews, and media reporting, we look at how cultural beliefs, parental resistance, and professional failings combined to make these children effectively invisible to the very system meant to protect them.

CORRECTION: In this episode we stated: 'For two years, the body of three-year-old Abiyah Yasharahyalah lay underground'. This was incorrect. Abiyah was buried for three years before he was discovered.
