    About Kalyn:

    Kalyn Fahie is a survivor of domestic violence and sexual assault and an advocate who works to end domestic and sexual violence. She founded the nonprofit organization Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment (SAFE) in April 2006. Kalyn has worked for IDVACC, The Institute on Domestic Violence in the African American Community, and the Virgin Islands Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition.

    Kalyn is a sought-after national speaker at local, state, and national conferences. She was featured in an article on domestic violence written by the White House in Essence Magazine and has received multiple honors and awards, including the 2009 National Network to End Domestic Violence’s “Spirit of Advocacy Award.”

    Kalyn currently serves as a Training and Technical Assistance Manager for Ujima Inc., The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community. In addition to her advocacy work, Kalyn offers coaching services that focus on personal empowerment, healing, and legacy-building. She is also the creator of the Dreams and Visions Workbook: Plan, Reflect, Take Action with Faith and Purpose, a faith-based guide that helps women set meaningful goals, reflect deeply, and move forward with purpose.

    She is currently writing her memoir, which is scheduled for release in 2026.

    About Arlene:

    Arlene Vassell (she/her/hers) is a nationally recognized speaker, trainer, facilitator and thought leader. She is the Founding Director for the TooREL Institute for Social Change, an organization she launched in 2023, after nearly three decades of leadership in the non-profit sector.

    Arlene has devoted her entire career to ending and preventing gender-based violence, disrupting systems of inequality and oppression, promoting leadership advancement of people of color, and developing equity-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally relevant programming. Her “formal” advocacy work
    began in Virginia at the YWCA Women’s Advocacy Program. She later served in various leadership roles at the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance (VSDVAA), the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV), and the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV).
    Arlene has led and developed dozens of national campaigns, programs, and initiatives intended to prevent gender-based violence, shift organizational cultures, and accelerate mindset and behavior change across all levels of the social ecological model. She has delivered thousands of hours of trainings
    and capacity building support to government agencies, nonprofits, coalitions, and community-based organizations on topics related to creating inclusive, equitable, and welcoming environments for both survivors and advocates.

    In addition to her advocacy work, Arlene is a certified transformational coach, using her lived experiences and expertise to help individuals and organizations navigate personal and systemic transformation—empowering individuals to unlock their full potential, overcome challenges, and create meaningful, sustainable change in their lives and communities.

    Most importantly, Arlene is a proud immigrant from Jamaica, a mother, an Auntie to many, a five-time self-published author, a joy seeker, and a hope dealer.

In addition to those teams, he has mentored his HS Alum Forrest City High School's FRC Team in Forrest City, AR, and had mentored a previous FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Team in Olive Branch, MS & future VEX Robotics assistance hosted by Mentoring Youth Through Technology (MYTT), plus looking forward to VEX Robotics & SeaPerch and/or MATE ROV (Underwater Robotics [ROV=Remotely Operated Vehicle]).

    Personal Life: Phillips has been married to his wife, Leslie, for 24 years. They have a son, LaZerek, who is an Alabama A&M University graduate, a daughter, Jewyl, a 2nd year college student at MTSU, and another daughter, Sasha, currently in the 7th Grade at Elmore Park MS in Bartlett.
    Phillips has high values and expectations for himself and for others around him. She is active in a twelve-step recovery program and has served others like her for over forty years.
