Contra Gentes is the inaugural volume of a significant two-part work by Athanasius of Alexandria, written just before the Arian controversy erupted around 319 AD. This compelling text delves into the realm of pagan beliefs and worship, ultimately presenting a robust defense of the Christian understanding of God and creation—particularly the role of the eternal Word in creation. This foundational exploration paves the way for the second volume, now available separately as De Incarnatione Verbi.
