• COLOR SPEAK, Season 5, Ep. 34: THIS GENERATION OF ENTERTAINERS! with Filmmaker/Creator of The Lost Healer Series, Wilson Hickman
    2025/09/12

I got a little choked up today, seeing God in this young man.

With the loss of Charlie Kirk this week, I am grateful the Holy Spirit saw fit to arrange this interview now, on the heals of such disappointment in the world.

But enter Wilson Hickman, an imaginative filmmaker called to affect the mountain of arts and entertainment, just when we need it most.

And just when we long to see the next generation rise up and assume their callings, courageously and confidently, God highlights those who lead the way. He brings to our attention those who have also committed to truth telling. Those who aren't afraid of deception. Those who know you they are.

    Like Charlie.

And, as we have heard a lot in the last couple of days, we are all Charlie now.

    Here is an great example.

Oh, and for all of you aspiring filmmakers, or anyone who feels called to the field of entertainment, this one's for you too,

    ***

Wilson Hickman is a follower of the Lord Jesus with a strong passion for storytelling. From a young age, Wilson began writing books in a variety of genres, and his passion for creativity led him to the visual medium of storytelling. When crafting a film, he often draws inspiration from his own life, vicariously learning and growing with the characters he creates. His latest project is an award-winning proof of concept episode for a Christian-themed fantasy TV series called The Lost Healer. Inspired by real-world spiritual warfare, the series is designed to transport viewers to an exciting new world while inspiring them to navigate the struggles of this one. Recognizing the power of stories to shape the culture, Wilson seeks to make compelling, God-honoring entertainment that can be enjoyed by a broad audience.

Patty Teichroew is part of A WATCHMAN'S JOURNAL team. She grew up in a Christian home and became a Christian when she was nine years old. She remembers hearing sermons about when God would speak to Moses, Noah, Elisha, David and so many others in the Bible and she would think to herself, if God spoke to people back then, why doesn’t He speak to people now? It wasn’t until she went to Explo ‘72 that she received an understanding of the importance of the Holy Spirit. At this youth gathering, she heard the Lord’s voice for the first time and that was monumental for her. When she returned home she became closer to her boyfriend whom she later married that following year. Years later she became a mother of two. It wasn’t long before she began to hear Him speak to her and He would answer her questions as how to respond to situations in her life. Everyday now she inquires of the Lord and asks Him what is on His heart and He responds to her.

  • COLOR SPEAK, Season 5, Episode 31: WE ALL HAVE A STORY TO TELL with Best-Selling Author Francine Rivers
    2025/08/07

For anyone who has a story to tell (and that is you, my friend), today's discussion is a treat!

Because today the internationally best-selling, multi-award winning author, Francine Rivers is with me. Seriously, I could have rolled credits for the first twenty minutes of this episode and not covered her recognized talent. Suffice it to sat, Francine is gifted.

But I also personally know her to be selfless and immensely kind. She loves God's people because she loves his Son so very much.

It's been a couple of years since Francine has been on the show, so today we catch up, talking about her writing projects and the publishing industry, mostly. I take us off a time or two into the weeds, so topics like pets are part of it too.

I know you will enjoy just getting caught up with one of your all-time favorite authors!

    ***

New York Times bestselling author Francine Rivers had a successful writing career in the general market for several years becoming a born-again Christian; she then wrote Redeeming Love as her statement of faith. A retelling of the biblical story of Gomer and Hosea set during the time of the California Gold Rush, Redeeming Love is now considered by many to be a classic work of Christian fiction and it continues to be one of the industry’s top-selling titles year after year. Since Redeeming Love, Francine has published numerous bestselling novels with Christian themes—including The Masterpiece, Bridge to Haven, and A Voice in the Wind —and she has continued to win both industry acclaim and reader loyalty around the world. Her Christian novels have been awarded or nominated for numerous honors and in 1997, after winning her third RITA Award for Inspirational Fiction, Francine was inducted into the Romance Writers of America’s Hall of Fame. In 2015, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW). Francine’s novels have been translated into over 30 different languages, and she enjoys bestseller status in many foreign countries. Francine and her husband live in Northern California and enjoy time spent with their grown children and grandchildren. She uses her writing to draw closer to the Lord, and she desires that through her work she might worship and praise Jesus for all He has done and is doing in her life.

  • COLOR SPEAK, Season 5, Episode 29: SOON, NOTHING WILL BE THE SAME with Diana Larkin & Patty Teichroew
    2025/07/17

When I look back over my show notes, I always find so many goodies for title ideas that I am hard pressed to find the right one.

    Today was especially difficult.

Because today, my friends Diana and Patty each had their most powerful messages to date, in my opinion.

I settled on one of Patty's journal entries that states, "Soon, nothing will be the same."

    Wow.

And Diana's word from our God that says, "The mountain of the LORD will tower over all."

    Again. Wow.

There were others too. Like this one: "Let go of exposure timing."

    "My David receives my download."

And, "The Rescue of the Ages is not just a reprieve."

I could go on and on, but instead I am going to marinate in all I heard today and encourage you here and now to tune in. I am also going to declare God's goodness in the land of the living."

"BREAK IT LOOSE! GATEKEEPERS OF DARKNESS BE REMOVED!"
