Self-Care for the Exhausted Mom Who Wants to Feel Like Herself Again

Exhausted mom, stressed and running on empty? Caregiver burnout isn't weakness. In this episode, I share the season that broke me open and the soul-deep rest sleep couldn't fix.

Today we share about selfcare for the Exhausted Mom who wants to feel like herself again.

If "just practice self-care" makes you want to cringe this episode is for you.

When my son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes on top of his sickle cell disease, I went from preventing crises to measuring every ounce of carbs and monitoring his body around the clock. The stress was heavy, the burnout was real, and my strength failed me. I'm sharing what happened in that season, how I stopped trying to hold it all together, and how I learned to rest as a daughter of God.

    In this episode, you'll hear:

    • Why self-care feels impossible for an exhausted mom, what to do about it
    • The difference between body tiredness and soul-deep exhaustion
    • How to release caregiver guilt, so rest no longer feels like failure
    • How Scripture speaks to caregiver burnout and stress
    • One simple practice for this week: The Open-Hand Hand-Off

    Scriptures mentioned: Matthew 11:28-30, 1 Kings 19, Psalm 127:2, Isaiah 40:31, 1 Peter 5:7

Try this week: Take 5 minutes a day for the Open-Hand Hand-Off. Name your worry, open your hands, hand it to God, and receive His peace.

    ABOUT THIS EPISODE

You're carrying an invisible weight, and you were never meant to carry it alone. In this conversation, I share my story of having two children sick at the same time, one hospitalized in a pain crisis and the other needing major nerve surgery at a different hospital, and how grace and the people around me carried me when my own strength was gone. WHAT YOU'LL TAKE AWAY - Why being "the strong one" can leave you lonely and exhausted - Four faith-based steps to set the weight down: 1. Name the weight: say the true thing out loud 2. Sort it and set it down: what's mine, what's theirs, what's God's 3. Let someone hold up your arms: ask one person for one specific thing 4. Receive strength for today: small daily habits and daily grace - A 2-minute guided reset (breath and prayer) so you can exhale right now SCRIPTURES WE TALK ABOUT Proverbs 31:25, 1 Peter 5:7, Psalm 55:22, Exodus 17:12, Galatians 6:2, Lamentations 3:22-23, 2 Corinthians 12:9, Isaiah 40:31, Matthew 11:28 TRY THIS TODAY Ask for help from trusted friend. Just say "Can you bring dinner Tuesday?" or "Can you sit with the kids for two hours so I can rest?" That's your first win. Want a little more help setting the weight down?
