Welcome back to Chill Under Pressure! Jason Obrzut from ESCO joins us today to break down the regulations shaping the HVAC/R industry and why refrigerant recovery matters more than ever. Jason went from contractor in Chicago to HVAC instructor and curriculum writer. Today he works on the regulatory side at ESCO, turning 700-page EPA rules into short, practical summaries for technicians. He shares what's changing with the updated Section 608 exam (no retest required for certified techs) and clears up common confusion about A2L and A3 refrigerants. Ultimately, Jason's message is about stewardship - the U.S. reclaim rate sits around 3% compared to roughly 40% globally, and with phase-down deadlines and reclaim-only servicing rules on the way, the industry is headed for a shortage unless technicians shift the venting culture. If you want price stability and gas on the shelf at the supply house, you have to recover it and get it to a reclaimer.Go visit ESCO's website to learn more!https://www.escogroup.org/
