このコンテンツについて

The passionate and tragic story of the sculptor who challenged Rodin's genius and was silenced for 30 years. It is perhaps one of the most painful scenes of separation in art history: a man being dragged toward the future by an old woman, while behind him, a young woman remains on her knees, pleading.

This sculpture, "L'Âge mûr" (The Mature Age), is the unsparing reckoning of the sculptor Camille Claudel with her great, impossible love: the master sculptor Auguste Rodin.

In this episode of "10 Minute Insight: Art," we tell the feverish and deeply tragic story of a female genius in 19th-century Paris. We follow Camille Claudel from her obsessive childhood through her explosive relationship with Rodin to the final catastrophe: her forced commitment by her own family, which banished her from the world for 30 years. A story of art, love, betrayal, and the belated justice for one of the greatest female sculptors of the modern era.

In this episode, you will learn:

An Untamed Talent: How a young Camille Claudel fought her way through the male-dominated art world of Paris.

Love in the Studio: The decade-long relationship with the world-famous sculptor Auguste Rodin, which was as productive as it was destructive.

A Reckoning in Bronze: The profound and personal symbolism behind her masterpiece, "L'Âge mûr."

Belated Justice: How Camille Claudel's work was rediscovered in the 20th century, and why she is celebrated today as a key figure of modern sculpture.

A Journey into Belle Époque Paris:

We take you to the pulsating heart of the late 19th-century art world: Paris. Here, the young, immensely talented Camille Claudel fights for recognition. Her life changes abruptly when she meets the titan of sculpture: Auguste Rodin. Their relationship would become legendary, but it took place in the shadow of Rodin's long-term companion, Rose Beuret. After their break, Camille's brother, the writer Paul Claudel, also plays a decisive role in her fate. Decades after her death, her work finally found the recognition it deserves, crowned by the opening of the Musée Camille Claudel.
