    Parents say some Alberta classrooms are too hot and smoky for students to study safely and they say that minister of education Demetrios Nicolaides has dismissed their concerns. Nicolaides has said it’s up to school boards to fix the problem. Parent Claire Kraatz, whose 12-year-old son attends an older school in northwest Calgary, had a science class that had to move recently because the classroom was too hot.

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling on the City of Calgary to scrap the Calgary Arts Development Authority after it spent $65,000 on a telephone line to the Bow River.   • Marcela Ezeta: Lost her son, dad, husband. But found life at Tu Taco

    Marcela and Guillermo Ezeta moved to Canada from Mexico in 1993 in search of a better life and more opportunities for their young son Mariano. They welcomed a daughter, Alex, and dreamed of one day opening a Mexican restaurant but tragedy struck the family. Mariano died from leukemia in 2017 and, a year later, Guillermo died from cancer. Marcela and Alex ended up in Calgary, where Marcela eventually fulfilled that dream, opening Tu Taco Mexican restaurant in Kensington in 2021. She just won best taco during Calgary's Taco Week.
