    Parents say some Alberta classrooms are too hot and smoky for students to study safely and they say that minister of education Demetrios Nicolaides has dismissed their concerns. Nicolaides has said it’s up to school boards to fix the problem. Parent Claire Kraatz, whose 12-year-old son attends an older school in northwest Calgary, had a science class that had to move recently because the classroom was too hot.

    'Reconnecting to the Bow' was a art project that allowed people to call the Box River in Calgary to listen to the sounds of the water. The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling on the City of Calgary to scrap the Calgary Arts Development Authority after it spent $65,000 on a telephone line to the Bow River.     The G7 leaders have agreed upon a charter involving the wildfires that have been impacting Canada nation wide, that lays out steps all G7 countries and five non-member countries will take to prevent fires, collaborate on research, improve community rebuilding efforts and mention using Indigenous land management techniques. How do these methods help maintain the land? What is ‘good fire’? Dr. Amy Cardinal Christian is a wildfire scientist who works across Canada and internationally to promote Indigenous-led approaches to wildfire, land stewardship, and emergency response. She is Metis, lives in Treaty 6 near Rocky Mountain House Alberta, and is the senior wildfire policy advisor with Indigenous Leadership Initiative.
